Miss Scarlett stood in front of the class and pointed to the whiteboard, on which “Dynamax” was written in red, blocky letters. “All right, class, who can tell me what the Dynamax phenomenon is?”
A few hands shot up, including Rosie’s. The girl in front of her had been a little bit faster, though.
“Hayley?” Miss Scarlett asked, pointing to a brown-haired girl wearing a sidetail with plastic yellow beads.
“No, she’s Hayley,” the girl replied, pointing across the room to a girl identical to herself. “I’m Henri!”
“Sorry, my mistake!” the teacher apologized.
Rosie rolled her eyes at the exchange, which somehow seemed to happen almost once a week.
“Henri,” Miss Scarlett corrected, “What can you tell me about the Dynamax phenomenon?”
The twin stood up to answer. “Um, Dynamaxing is when you make your Pokemon really, really big!”
Rosie zoned out as the other girl talked; from where she was sitting, she could see that the seat of her classmate’s light blue denim shorts looked heavy with the bulk of a soaked diaper. Wow, she should really get a change, Rosie idly thought to herself.
“Well, that is correct…” the teacher replied as Henri sat back down, “But it’s not the answer I’m looking for. Who else?” she asked, looking expectantly around the room.
More hands shot up, but Rosie was once again not the one picked.
“Bridget?” Miss Scarlett pointed to a different brown-haired girl, closer to the front.
C’mon, just pick me already, Rosie whined internally as she played around with one of the blue scrunchies securing her brown pigtails.
Standing up, Bridget answered, “Dynamaxing is what happens when a Pokemon gets so much extra energy, it makes its body grow huge and glowy.”
Rosie once again tuned out her classmate, instead fixating on the outline of a bulky diaper puffing-out the rear of the girl’s light purple dress. Wow, she could really use a change, too. Do all the other kids here just stay in one diaper all day? Reaching a hand under her own dress, dark blue in color, Rosie could proudly confirm that her pull-up was only slightly wet.
Bridget sat back down as Miss Scarlett nodded. “Yes, that’s also correct, but…” Looking around the room again, the young woman asked, “Does anyone know what, exactly, Dynamxing is? What causes it?”
Rosie’s hand was the only one sticking up this time. The teacher pointed to her. “Okay, Rosi-”
Miss Scarlett barely had time to call on the girl before she quickly stood up, dramatically pushing her blue glasses up the bridge of her nose. “Dynamaxing,” Rosie started, holding up a finger, “is a temporary size and power boost a Pokemon can achieve when its trainer uses a Dynamax band to channel energy from a Power Spot, which is a well of Galar Particle energy leaked from the legendary Pokemon Eternatus.” She smugly grinned as she sat back down.
“Very good!” Miss Scarlett said, smiling, “Looks like someone read the textbook.”
“Show-off,” Henri sneered over her shoulder at Rosie.
“Yes,” the teacher continued, “That is exactly what Dynamaxing is. You need three things: a Pokemon, a Dynamax band, and a Power Spot.” Turning around, she pulled down a rolled up map. “As it turns out, most of the Mappa region sits on top of one enormous Power Spot, so one of those elements is already present. Also…” she walked over to her desk and pulled out a black bracelet. “This here is a Dynamax band, so now we have two of the three elements. That means all we need is - ” Miss Scarlett motioned for everyone to respond.
“A Pokemon!” the class called out in unison.
“That’s right! We need a Pokemon volunteer to show off Dynamaxing in action. Let’s go outside, and we’ll pick one.”
The children chattered with excitement as they exited the classroom behind their teacher, following her to a large sports field. Once everyone had lined up, Miss Scarlet turned to address them.
“Now, I will call up one volunteer, and they will use this band,” she held up the bracelet, “to Dynamax their Pokemon. Now, who will it be…?”
Several children waved their hands, Rosie included. Miss Scarlett pointed to her. “Yes, Rosie, since you answered the question best, go ahead and show us how it’s done.”
Rosie beamed, while many of the other kids grumbled and groaned. She walked up to her teacher, who placed the Dynamax band on her arm; then, Rosie pulled out a friend ball and threw it. “Go, Sunny!”
An Espeon appeared, wearing a tape-up diaper matching its pokeball, as well as a green collar with a pacifier attached. “Espy!” the little Pokemon exclaimed excitedly.
“Why does your Pokemon have a pacifier?” Haley asked, smirking, “Is it a baby?”
The other children giggled, but Rosie ignored them. “All right, Sunny, let’s Dynamax!” She held up her arm, the Dynamax band glowing.
“Espeon!” the psychic Pokemon cried as the glow enveloped him. Sunny soon grew to an enormous size, towering over the assembled group; glowing red clouds started circling his head. “ESPEON!” he shouted again, this time booming loudly.
Rosie’s classmates murmured in amazement.
“Whoa!”
“Cool!”
Miss Scarlett gave a thumbs-up. “Good job, Rosie and Sunny!” She turned to the rest of the class, opening her mouth to speak, but was immediately interrupted by a sudden, loud rushing sound.
“ES-PEE!” the gigantic Espeon cried out. His green-and red diaper, looming large over the students, started to puff out and sag as he wet it.
“Ewww!” the kids shouted, some giggling, some pointing.
“Espeon? More like Es-pee-on!” Henri, or maybe Hayley, snickered; the twins high-fived each other.
Rosie blushed, crossing her arms. “Sunny, why now…?” she muttered to herself as she looked at the ground.
“Well, that’s one lesson learned,” Miss Scalett said, resting a hand on the poor girl’s shoulder, “Before Dynamaxing, always make sure your Pokemon doesn’t need to go potty.”
Rosie nodded in agreement.
