It was just a normal morning on Dalmatian Street, not unlike any other. A young female dalmatian stepped outside to go to the park, with two of her little sisters in tow.
"Hey Dolly, guess what?" The larger of the small pups asked, waiting for her twin to continue the sentence.
"We're brave enough to cross the street on our own now!" The smaller twin took the hint, finishing her sister's thought.
"Oh, that's great!" Dolly replied, when suddenly a thought crossed her mind. "But... isn't that a bit dangerous?"
"Oh, Dolly! You sound just like Dylan!" The smaller twin teased. "Come on Dizzy, let's go!"
And with that, the two puppies began to walk across the road. Dolly sighed, but she didn't see any cars close enough to be cause for concern, so perhaps she was overworrying.
Suddenly, the dalmatian's head began to spin. Her vision blurred, and her knees wobbled as if she were carrying the weight of another dog atop her back. The world in front of her began to distort, reality itself seeming to bend all around her. In a few seconds' time, she found herself not outside with her sisters, but in her home, the lights dimmed and her family sat weeping around what seemed to be two framed photos of... Dizzy and Dee Dee?
This could only mean one thing... Dolly had killed her sisters with her negligence. But something felt off - mostly because she could only move her eyes. She noticed that occasionally her head would move on its own, but when she herself tried to move her head, nothing happened.
Her stepbrother, Dylan, turned to face her with a look of betrayal in his tear-filled eyes.
"Dolly... I know sometimes you don't think, but... how could you?"
Dolly wanted to scream, but she couldn't open her mouth. She couldn't even get the sound out of her throat. It felt like a nightmare.
And then everything snapped back to normal. Dolly saw her sisters still walking across the street, and now she knew what she had to do.
"Dizzy! Dee Dee! Get back here right now!"
The girls froze for a second, before sheepishly returning to their sister. Not even a second after they stepped off of the asphalt, a car zoomed through the road.
Dolly's relief was soon replaced with fear as she realized what this could mean. She could have just been hallucinating, but she was sure that she didn't have any reason to hallucinate. She didn't have schizophrenia, and Dylan always made sure the kibble his family ate wasn't expired.
There was only one thing it could be. Dolly Dalmatian could see the future. Or at least, possible futures. But that was impossible! Nobody could have supernatural powers like that! Or... could they? And if anyone in the family were to have this power, why would it be her? Why not someone who would actually appreciate it, like Dante? Why not someone who would like being able to save their family from any accidents, like Dylan? Why was it her? And more importantly, who could she trust to tell about this? Could she tell anyone at all?
What could she do?
