Every now and again, I'll have a "variety practice" session where I'll choose a theme and sketch a handful of characters centered on that theme, to see how different I can make each character look. One of the things I never liked regarding a lot of big artists online, is how they have a "copy and paste" approach to designing their characters:
They give their characters the same face and body, and I always found that uncanny, especially when the characters in question are different species. I've never exactly had that problem, but considering a lot of these big artists do and have been drawing far longer than I have, it made me realize how easy it is to end up having a problem. Thus, I do this to keep my creative juices flowing, because I'd rather not have a bunch of characters and they're all just clones of each other.
I've had a lot of variety practice sessions like this one in the past, but I never really saw the point in publishing them. I'm sure someone out there will like them and probably be inspired by the, though, so here they are. None of the characters here have names, personalities, or backstories, by the way, as they exist purely for practice.
