Note: This picture took place after the events of "A Little Puppy."
One day after school, Feathers and Ince were working together to do some chores around the house, Slither's orders. Ince was happy to have Feathers as his brother, but he wasn't used to strict rules in Slither's house, as Slither is strict. But Feathers would assure him that Slither is a very good snake once he gets to know him. Feathers swept the floor while Ince had wiped the table he and Feathers had tea with Slither. The fire burns in the fireplace to keep the room warm due to a chill in the air outside.
Slither Scale had adjusting the time on his grandfather clock when he heard Ince crying, and he turned to see him sitting on a red chair, his hands covering his eyes. "Ince?" He asked, as he slithered towards Ince. "What's the matter? Why are you crying?"
Ince sniffled. "It's nothing, really," he lied, knowing what he's sad about.
"That's not nothing to me, my boy. Ince, you can tell me," Slither said.
Ince sighed. "I was just thinking about my parents."
"Ah. Still missing them, I see."
"Yes. I really miss them so much." He sniffled more, and then he covered his eyes, crying. "Why did I lose them in that terrible storm?! It isn't fair! I want my mom and dad back! I miss them so much! I love them so much!" He sobbed more, as Slither reached to put his hand on Ince's back.
"I'm very sorry, my boy," Slither said sympathetically.
Feathers overheard Ince's crying and approached him. "Are you okay, Ince?" he asked. But Ince kept crying, and his ears droop, realizing what he's sad about. "Aw, Ince, I'm so sorry. No one deserves to lose their parents so soon." He gave him a pat on the back. "It's going to be okay, little brother. Cheer up."
"Feathers," said Slither, holding his hand out. "I think the pup needs some time alone. Let him be, and we'll see if he calms down."
Feathers looked at Ince, then lowered his head. "Yes, sir."
Within a while, Feathers had done some chores, and was sitting by the fire, sighing. He then looked at Ince, thinking he might have calmed down, and he approached him. "You okay, Ince?"
Ince sniffled and said, "Yes... I'm sorry, Feathers."
"No, we're the ones who are sorry for your loss. No one should have to go through something as traumatizing as that. But Ince, you don't have to feel alone. You got me, and you got Slither."
Ince sniffled. "Feathers, I really cannot deny that you and Slither are my new family, but it isn't gonna fill in the hole I had for my parents. It just won't be the same."
"I know that, but without us, where would you be? We can fill in the hole in your heart, if you let us be there for you. I'll be there for you, Slither will be there for you... You just have to believe us. We're here for you, whenever you're in trouble."
Ince sniffled again, as he wiped his tearful eyes, smiling weakly. "Aw, Feathers, you didn't have to tell me that."
"That's what family is for, little brother," Feathers smiled. "Can I tell you the story of how I met Slither, and how he raised me like a son?"
Ince's tail wagged, his diaper crinkling. "Oh, I'd love to hear that story."
Feathers chuckled as he sat in the red chair, with Ince sitting on his lap, and he told him the story.
