Farewell, SMG4
(A Tribute to SMG4)

One evening, J.C. was flying through the air when he sees something in the distance. He looks to see the fairgrounds up ahead. Looking for a place to land, he looks to see that the fairgrounds are quiet. J.C. stops and lands on a dirt road. When he looked up, he smiles at what he saw.

J.C. stood before the home of SMG4. He heard many stories about him, how to makes videos and inspired countless others. Some of the videos brought laughs, others brought tears, and a lot involving memes. J.C. used to hear about SMG4 and saw some of his videos for a time. But then, something happened one day that will change forever.

One day, J.C. was relaxing at home when he got a message on his phone. Curious, he looks at it. The message said something about SMG4. Later, he sat at his computer and looked it up. To his shock, he realized that SMG4 is retiring. After watching the video, J.C. felt unhappy and decided to do something to honor the memory of SMG4 before his official retirement.

(Suki was walking by when she noticed J.C. was unhappy)

Suki: Something troubling you, bro?

J.C.: Sadly, yes. SMG4 is retiring.

After J.C. explained the shocking news to Suki, he told her he had to leave town for a little while. Suki wanted to come with him but decides to stay home and work on something for later. She tells him she'll meet up with him later. J.C. then sets off to find the home of SMG4. And now, he arrived.

J.C.: SMG4. I used to hear stories about you. How your videos inspired countless people. Some who are part of the Mario fanbase. I'm sure they're carrying on your legacy.

(He walks towards the door before taking a deep breath)

J.C.: No turning back now.

(J.C. knocks on the door and it slowly opens)

J.C. walks inside. He looks around the building, surprised at what the inside was like. He was just like in the videos. As J.C. walked inside, he could tell there were tons of great if not funny memories for SMG4 and his friends. Now, the building was surprisingly quiet.

J.C.: Man, to think this place used to have tons of memories for SMG4. I bet he felt the same way over the last 14 and a half years. I'm sure the community will never be the same without him.

Suddenly, J.C. heard footsteps and turns to see Suki at the door, carrying a bag with her.

J.C.: Oh, hey, sis. I almost though you wouldn't make it.

Suki: Wasn't easy. I walked ten miles and took four buses to get here.

J.C.: Why could you take one of the cars?

Suki: They're being fixed today.

J.C.: Fair point.

(Suki walks in the room)

Suki: So, this is the home of SMG4?

J.C.: Pretty much. He used to hang out in Princess Peach's castle, until he and his friends moved to the fairgrounds and eventually created a new home for themselves.

Suki: I see.

They walked around the building, seeing a lot of memories from the videos SMG4 made. They saw all of the rooms SMG4 and his friends made for themselves. They also noticed tons of rides and games set up outside of the fairgrounds as well as a coffee shop and an Italian restaurant outside. Surprisingly, they noticed a memorial for all the friends SMG4 and the others made along the way who sadly aren’t with them anymore. Lastly, they arrived at SMG4’s room.

Suki: Is this it?

J.C.: I think so.

(J.C. opens the door)

They walked inside only to see that the room was empty. They noticed SMG4 hung up his hat and that his PC was off. They walked over to see a photo of SMG4 and all of his friends. Smiling at this, J.C. was proud to see such a beautiful moment for someone like him. He then turned to Suki.

J.C.: So, did you bring them?

Suki: Yes.

(She sets the bag down)

Suki: Good thing you left me a list before you left. So, what should we do?

J.C.: Leave them on his desk. When SMG4 comes back here, I want this to be a very special surprise for him.

Suki: Very well.

Suki pulls out a CD while J.C. took out a written story with a title that says “The Retirement of SMG4”. They set them down on the desk before looking at each other.

Suki: You think SMG4 will like these?

J.C.: I hope so.

They noticed a picture of SMG4 and SMG3 with their friends, X and FM along with countless other Mario fan characters, some that are recolors.

J.C.: And I though the Sonic fandom had a lot of fans. Sheesh.

Suki: No kidding.

Suki noticed a small note which shows some names and a message that said, “Friends who aren’t with us anymore”.

Suki: I wonder what that note is.

J.C.: My guess… probably people who left SMG4 a long time ago. In fact, I heard there were a few people who… well, let’s just say that’s another story.

Suki: I’ll take your word for it.

J.C. and Suki walked out of the room and closed the door before making their way out of the castle and closing the door.

Suki: What do you think happened to the SMG4 version of Mario?

J.C.: Don’t know. Last I heard, he said goodbye to SMG4 and disappeared down a warp pipe. Figured he returned home after saying his farewell to SMG4. I think.

(They notice the sun was setting)

Suki: Speaking of which… we should probably head home, too. It’s starting to get late.

J.C.: Sounds good to me. Besides… I’m thinking about taking some time off from the online world for a while.

Suki: Why?

J.C.: I’ll explain when we get home. Now, let’s go.

(J.C. grabs Suki’s hands and flew off)

As they flew off, J.C. took one last look at the castle and smiles before saying…

J.C.: Thank you for everything, SMG4.

A little later, SMG4 was walking towards the castle, unaware that J.C. and Suki had stopped by. He walked inside, seeing that the entire castle was quiet. He sighs, reminiscing all of the memories he shared with his friends, remembering all of the fun times he’s had with them. When SMG4 made his way towards his room and opened the door, he noticed the gifts on his desk.

SMG4: What’s this?

He looks to see the CD and the story on his desk. Curious, SMG4 plays the CD and hears what it said. The CD starts playing.

CD: Hey, SMG4. My name is J.C. the Hybrid. You may not know me, but my sister, Suki and I know you. We heard a lot about your videos. All the laughs, drama, and nostalgic moments as well as how many people you inspired along the way. When we heard about your retirement, I was shock, if not unhappy. So, as a special gift, my sister and I put together a very special story for you. It’s not much, but I hope you’ll enjoy it as well as your retirement. We also left some songs that might give you nostalgic memories, starting with two certain songs by Scatman John. And hey, who knows? Maybe someday, we’ll cross paths and become good friends. Farewell, SMG4. Thank you for everything.

SMG4 was surprised as he heard the message on the CD before stopping it.

SMG4: Wow. Whoever this guy is, he must really like my work. I really have inspired a lot of people over the years, haven’t I?

(He noticed the story on his desk)

SMG4: “The Retirement of SMG4”? This must be the story he was talking about.

(He takes the story and reads it)

The story starts with SMG4 relaxing on the beach. He was thinking back on all of the adventures he’s been through with all of his friends.

SMG4: After 14 and a half years, it was time to retire. I’ve done a lot over the years. Told countless stories, made lots of new friends, and all the crazy adventures we’ve been through. Man, what a crazy time.

(SMG4 wonders what his friends have been up to)

He thought back to when he and Mario said their goodbyes and he disappeared.

SMG4: After Mario and I said our goodbyes, he disappeared down the warp pipe. He and I may have a few issues at times, but looking back on it all, all I can say is I’m really glad to have a great friend like him. Maybe we’ll meet again someday.

He thought about the rest of his friends. After Mario disappeared, most of the group has gone their separate ways. However, they promised to keep in touch.

SMG4: After Mario left, everyone has decided to go their separate ways, but promised that they would meet each other again in the future.

At a remote village, all of the Mario recolors having been living a great life. Some were making videos, others doing some fun adventures.

SMG4: I heard all of the Mario Recolors and machinists, including the YouTube Rangers have been expanding Bloopersville. Some of them have been doing their own stuff and not just making videos or going on crazy adventures. For example, Enzo is now in therapy, Minion is writing a novel which explains different internet memes, Silent Guy and Crazy Toilet Guy disappeared, and I even heard that some of them are making their own videos to continue my legacy, such as Machroma, SMG2, SO69, SMGF, SMD965, Geofcraze634, MM54321, OnyxKing67, and who can forget Jedi Warrior Mike?

Outside of Bloopersville, there was a sign that said “Wanted by the Royal Mushroom Kingdom Police”. There were photos of Silent Guy and Crazy Toilet Guy along with two photos, one for Weegeepie and one for Starman3 each with a huge bounty underneath their pictures.

Smg4: I used to know Weegeepie and Starman3, but… we don’t talk anymore.

Meanwhile, Xboxfan997 and FightingMario54321 better known as X and FM were wandering through town, looking for jobs.

SMG4: As for X and FM, last I heard, they’ve been wandering around town, looking for jobs, but we still make time to hang out every now and then.

Swag and Chris were leading an army against an alien invasion with Peach. Meanwhile, Karen was working at a coffee shop when she noticed Wario attempting to steal money from the cash register. Just as he ran for the door, Karen whistles and her children showed up at the front of the door, each getting their weapons ready. Not too far away, Melony was doing a book signing while Tari and Belle were having a gaming match. Also, Bob and Fishy Boopkins have opened up their own anime store and started selling, manga, anime, games and other merchandise. Plus, Waluigi was running his taco stand.

SMG4: I think Swag and Chris have become good friends with Peach lately and are helping her and the Toads protect the Mushroom Kingdom from any signs of trouble. I heard that Karen is still working hard for her family and her children have been getting better with their new powers. Can’t say the same for Wario, though. Melony is still a great story writer and still honoring Axol’s memory to this day. I also found out that Tari and Belle have formed a partnership and became the most well-known gamers around town, even telling stories about the games they played as well as helpful gaming advice. As for Bob and Boopkins, last I heard, they started a business selling anime. Boopkins has also been telling reviews about certain anime series and Bob did some rap battle with some of the customers as a way to help make some money for their business. As for Waluigi, well, let’s just say he’s having a lot of fun running his taco stand and surprisingly, it’s become a huge successful business around the Mushroom Kingdom. I’m surprised how many customers have come by. Good for him, I guess.

Meanwhile, in Inkopolis, Meggy was on the top of a stage, holding a trophy with her teammates. At the same time, Saiko and Kaizo were playing a concert in Inkopolis while Wimpu was watching them with a camera, cheering them on.

SMG4: Meggy moved on to becoming a champion of Splatfest. Heard she and her old team still hold the title to this day. She still keeps in touch with Mario and Luigi. As for Saiko, she recently started doing some concerts with Kaizo between Inkopolis and the Mushroom Kingdom. Surprisingly, Wimpu has been following them, sharing their music with the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, SMG3 has been working on his coffee and bomb shop with Egg Dog. They were selling drinks to customers as well as explosives, earning tons of money in the process. As for Luigi, he has been hosting his own cooking show with Bowser. He still has a garden as well which really helped produce tons of fresh food and beautiful plants. The Koopalings and Bowser Junior even took part as the camera crew for the cooking show.

SMG4: I heard Luigi has started his own cooking show with Bowser as well as selling plants and flowers to everyone around town. As for SMG3, last I heard, he’s still working on his café, but we still keep in touch if he ever needs and help.

SMG4 stood up, looking up in the sky. He took a deep breath and sighs. He thought back to the fun times he and friends had, those they lost along the way, all the shenanigans involving memes, but mostly the friendships they made.

SMG4: Man, I can’t believe it’s been 14 and a half years. I guess it’s true what they say… time flies when you’re having fun. I really have done a lot over the years, haven’t I? I’m glad that I made a lot of people happy for so long.

SMG4 then remembered one last person. The one person who we called a good friend: Mario. Last he saw him, he said his goodbyes and vanished down the pipe.

SMG4: I wonder what Mario is up to. Knowing him, I’m sure he’s having fun.

Meanwhile, Mario was sitting outside of his home. He was looking at a picture of him and all of their friends. He was smiling from all of the fun times they had over the years. As a small tear came to his eyes, Mario looked up into the sky. He wonders if SMG4 is enjoying his retirement and couldn’t help, but smile, knowing that his friend is living a great life since he retired from YouTube.

(Mario looks up at the moon, seeing the face of SMG4 on it)

Mario: Farewell, SMG4.

(SMG4 closes the story)

SMG4 smiles, seeing how much thought was put into this story. A small tear came to his eyes. He was proud to inspire so many people over the years. He can already his friends were having a fun time together. He looks at the story and with a heartfelt smile, this is what he said.

SMG4: J.C. the Hybrid, whoever you are… thank you.

Farewell, SMG4. Thank you for everything.

A story I made as a tribute to SMG4. I wanted to try and make this story special, even though I had trouble trying to find the right words to say, especially without breaking down in tears. It took me all day to write this, but I say I really put a lot of thought into this. SMG4, if you're reading this story right now, I really hope you enjoy it. You've been a great inspiration to countless people, including myself. Thank you SMG4, for everything.
