Prince Flavius had invited his neighboring friend, Prince Sarilo, to visit a new land.
A vast eastern realm known as Shan-Lu — a great empire filled with many cities, diverse cultures, and ancient traditions.
During the day, they walked together through the streets. Prince Sarilo noticed everything: unfamiliar symbols, colorful fabrics, markets full of voices and scents. The people were open and welcoming, many smiling at them or greeting them with curiosity.
“Everything here is so interesting,” Prince Sarilo said more than once. “The people are very friendly. And the climate is much more pleasant than in my homeland — not too hot. I really like it.”
Prince Flavius smiled, pleased to see Sarilo enjoying the experience.
As evening arrived, the city began to change. Lanterns were lit, warm light filled the streets, and people gathered everywhere. The air itself seemed full of anticipation, and Prince Sarilo felt it immediately.
“What’s happening now?” he asked, excited.
“Just wait,” Prince Flavius replied calmly. “The New Year is about to begin.”
Then, as night fully settled in, a loud sound echoed across the sky. Prince Sarilo looked up in surprise — and then in awe.
Fireworks burst above the city in gold, red, and white, scattering sparks like stars across the darkness. The sky glowed brighter with every explosion.
Prince Sarilo’s eyes shone. “This is incredible,” he said softly. “I’ve never seen anything like this.”
Around them, people cheered, laughed, and celebrated the arrival of the new year. Prince Flavius and Prince Sarilo stood side by side, gazing upward together, sharing the moment amid light, color, and joy.
A new year had begun.
In a new land.
With new experiences — and a friendship that had grown even stronger.
