Nearly half the day has gone by as the pokemon are waiting around in the clinic’s waiting area. The group consists of Elle, Gloria, Jay, Cindy, and Ezma by one set of seats with Zach, Ralph, and Mayor Azumarill opposite of them. The only sounds resonating in the clinic are the clack of their feet and the ticking of the clock. No one says a word as time progresses, seeming like eternity for the pokemon.
“What’s taking that doctor so long?!” spurts Cindy. “It’s just a simple test!”
“Patience, my pupil,” Ezma tells her. “It takes time for them to analyze specimens and get results. Though, you and Jay could’ve spent your time doing better things…”
“How about we save ourselves the trouble and end this now?” Jay claims. “I’ll ensure the runt riolu learns the hard way what it means to mess with other pokemon, especially Cindy’s family!” His and Cindy’s anger causes Zach to shift closer to Ralph for comfort.
“Take it easy, Sis,” Elle orders. “You’re getting angry for no reason. You need calm down.”
“Don’t tell me to calm down, Elle! I’ll rip those sensors off the riolu!”
Zach nearly buries his head under his shoulders. “I-I’m scared…”
Ralph rubs the riolu’s shoulders to comfort. “Easy… Pay no attention to her. She’s just a little pent up, is all.” Everyone’s ears stick up and their senses sharpen as they hear the doors open. They turn to see two pokemon approach.
Doctor Golduck comes forward with a clipboard. Alongside him is Nurse Audrey. “Well, I have the results from the tests…”
“Am I the father of Elle’s child?” asks Zach.
“No,” Doctor Golduck tells him. “And Elle didn’t see any other males, either.”
Jay looks dumbfounded. “Huh…? So wait, I’m confused… Did Elle produce the egg all by herself? She couldn’t have…”
“We thought about that, too. However, we made an interesting discovery when running the tests…” The doctor lowers his clipboard to meet their eyes. “We found that Gloria is the other parent.” Everyone stares at him, clueless of the discovery.
“What?!” spurts Cindy. “How?!”
“Upon analysis, we ran the samples and noticed striking similarities.” He takes out three sheets of paper and points to each one before handing them to the supposed parents. “Momma one’s DNA, momma two’s DNA, baby’s DNA.”
“Wait…” Gloria adds in. “How is that even possible?”
“I know it sounds crazy, but we did more research, and it makes sense!”
Elle shakes her head in confusion. “What? I’m confused… How…?”
“You both have been having fun, right?” Elle and Gloria nod. “Normally, it takes a male and female to process fertilization… Well, our investigation shows during your ‘fun,’ some of Gloria’s goo had entered within you. That goo contained traces of her DNA, which traveled further up and came into contact one of your eggs inside, kicking off fertilization. We didn’t think that would be possible until we realized Elle is a legendary, added to the fact you both are fairy-types, too. In conclusion, the results… a lesbian conception! Congratulations, you two.”
Cindy covers her mouth and looks at her sister. Everyone shares the same reaction; frozen in shock and dumbfounded. “Oh my Arceus!!! My sister is the center of a spectacle…”
Gloria turns to Elle. “It’s… incredible!!!" She quickly picks up Elle and dances around in happiness. “We’re going to be mommies!!!” Elle chuckles.
“Well, congrats,” Ezma adds. “Hope all will be well.”
“You kidding me?!” Cindy asks. “As long as it’s not the runt’s baby, I’m super happy! But also, that my sister will be the mother of a magical pokemon.” While that side of the room celebrates, Zach turns his head away.

Zach enters into the apartment with a frown occupying his face.
Ralph shuts the door behind him. “You didn’t say a word the whole way here… You’re not still thinking about the whole thing, are you?”
“Mhm,” responds Zach.
“Why? I thought you’d be glad you aren’t the father.”
“It’s not that… It’s just… seeing Elle become a mother with Gloria… It kills me inside… I’ve never truly had a family, and I’ve been working to try and get one… Now, I have to watch Elle have a family, and without me…? Same with Cindy?”
“Zach, you can definitely have a family… You’re young and healthy.”
“It’s not about age and health, Ralph… It’s finding a pokemon who I can trust and love… It has been very difficult for me to find the right pokemon… I have had no luck…”
“What about your date with that fennekin? Was she not a good match?”
“I don’t know… We were about to move to the next step until Cindy showed up… She was the only response from the dating app I’ve had…”
“You know what you should do? You should try out speed dating.”
Zach narrows one eye. “Speed dating…? What’s that…?”
“You go out to a social place and socialize with random pokemon for a short period of time. You date one pokemon for about six minutes, then move to the next.”
“Sounds very fast and not too thrilling…”
“The idea is to see which pokemon fits your desires at the end of the session. I’ve been on some and they’re not too bad.”
“I don’t know about that… Doesn’t sound too romantic or appealing… Then again, I haven’t really had much luck getting other pokemon… I guess I can give it a try…”
“You can come to the next event with me. And don’t feel discouraged if you don’t find a pokemon. They keep you on the list for the next event. Don’t worry, Zachy. You’ll do fine!”
“I really hope you’re right, Ralph…”
“Come here…” The scorbunny wraps his arms around the riolu and gives him a hug.
