this was a little silly personal project to see if I could art on old hardware and software :3 I love the old 1999 and 2000 Imac G3, I have snow edition Summer 2001 slot loader from more than 10 years ago, fully functional, and a couple of weeks ago, I got a grey DV SE Summer 2000 slot loader, in not working condition, and got it running again quite easy ^w^.
Got some software and tried this out.
The digital line art was done on the DV SE Summer 2000 running Mac OS 9.2.2 on Adobe Illustrator 9 The hardware of that G3 is 500Mgz PowerPC 750 G3, 256Mb of Ram, 8 Mb of video ram. ( I had to replace HDD on this Mac because the head landed on the disk when I powered on LOL, I had another IDE drive for swap. And a grounding issue with the CRT that i got "partially" solved as it was making a ZAP sparking sound inside and having image distortion... I got it 99% fixed 😅)
The color part was done on the Snow Summer 2001 G3, Running Mac OSX 10.4.11 Tiger on Adobe Photoshop Cs1. The hardware of that G3 is 600Mgz PowerPC 750CX G3, 512Mb of Ram, 16Mb of video ram. ( this is the mac I've been having kinda like a trophy in my room for like 10 years now.. it just powers on and is ready to do anything ... slowly.. but ready hahaha <3 )
So yeah! you still can do modern Digital art on an early 2000s iMac :3 ( the computer I'm holding x3). This was actually a pain to do as the Snow struggled a ton with the color phase.. but it was fun. ^w^
Later I will try to remaster this same file on my actual work station which is a 27" 5K display, intel iMac. *dances* <3
