Amanda was the first daughter of the Shahanshah of Ab-Zandegi, a desert empire far far to the South. She was captivated by the moon goddess of the Anam a' Choic during a diplomatic visit, more so than the gods of her own land. Though the Shahanshah did not approve, he allowed her to leave to be trained among the druids, and dedicate her eternal life to the service of Mother Moon, as she truly desired, so long as she returned to their sacred mountain once every two years to drink from the waters and restore her vitality, lest she waste away.

Cuidightheach (or Cody) was the one entrusted to keep Amanda safe. He was one of the few Anam a' Chnoic who would brave the sea, a gate to the otherworld in his people's religion. It's a very lucrative job, and he dedicates himself to it well, keeping Amanda safe from threats as basic as criminals, to threats as great as Saol Eile, and to be sure she makes her pilgrimages to the sacred mountain. The Shahanshah often misses his daughter, but he knows she is safe from the Gharat Alzalam, who plague the scorching wilds of Ab-Zandegi, and hunt the Shahanshah's children to settle a score thousands of years in the making.
