Plus a disclaimer because I need to clarify some things before I get into the prologue.

So, after a long waiting time (~5 years), I'm finally posting Return to Knothole. Basically, a comic regarding SJ's adolescence and later teen years. The next 12 or so pages are the prologue.

Scheduling-

My plan is to post a page once a week. Which is unfortunate because I don't want to post fucking page one but I'm going to have to. (I redrew it for this purpose, I don't know why I'm so hesitant). Whilst the last few pages of the prologue are not complete, they are in enough of a phase that I can work on it without much issue. This gives me a certain amount of time :) (Roughly 11+ weeks)

Why did it take you 5 years to start posting this on Inkbunny?

This might come as a shock, but this comic went through roughly 4 iterations before it's current point. Then, the whole "nothing is coherent after 4 pages, so i have to start all over again", and then the additional "oh there's a continuity error in the first two pages, so I'm going it again". There was the first version too that was all traditional and I hated how it looked. So, yeah, I redrew the first two pages 4 times, and remade the other two pages (out of 4 at the time). I was very stressed.

I wanted the focus to be SJ being... SJ. Without his sex life coming into play. But instead, his personality, his relationships and his dynamics after being a rebel. (Oh yeah, had to rework on the rebellion side of things). And his son too, I guess. I want this comic to feel like SJ's "redemption" is earned through trials and tribulations, instead of his familial ties to Sonic (and the royal family by extension).

But for the actual answer to the question, the one I've been avoiding to answer or dodging is this: Page one of the prologue triggers me due to its contents. Whilst nothing is physically shown, it is heavily implied of sexual assault. Whilst to a lot of you, I'm sure you're not that entirely fussed, but I started this comic (traditional edition) days after my own SA (Dec 2019). Hence, why it triggers me, because I had to mentally go back in my head and draw something that hurt me.

Whilst I don't like talking about my assault, I hope that people have some empathy and understand my hesitation and caution. I included the disclaimer for this reason. You can skip page one if it triggers you too, it doesn't add much, but it does give some context to SJ's relationship with Scourge.

The main character's designs? Also Scourge is a porcupine?

Yeah, I redesigned the Sonic cast, it's just my personal take on them. (Also Sonic has Manic/Sonia as siblings.)

Yes, Scourge is in fact a porcupine. Two/three reasons:
1. To differentiate Scourge from Sonic (because there's too many hedgehogs, send help).
1.5. Because Scourge has no relation to Sonic (no Master Emerald thing, he's his own mobian, as is Lancelot)
2. My assaulter used a porcupine as a sona, and this is my way of having something, I guess. (we were originally friends.)

But if it's something that's not so much of a spoiler, but in fact, going to be revealed in the coming weeks, I will not answer it. (It's coming, be patient please. I'm just one guy, I'm trying my best). Spoilers, obviously, I will be vague, because, well. You're gonna have to wait and see.
