Character Description
Mark is an average teenage wolf character, except for one glaring problem: he's a chronic antisocial. Personality
Avoidant antisocial, somewhat distant and unengaging, defensive demeanor can sometimes make him seem more unfriendly than he actually is.
Likes/Dislikes
Likes drawing, playing video games, and being alone and quiet
Dislikes socializing, being pestered/bullied, being considered crazy for being this way
Favorite foods: Pizza, Cheeseburgers, and cola soda.
Background/History
Mark hasn't had the worst life in the world- but he hasn't had the best either. When Mark was six, his natural father-- Jonathan Allens-- died of an aneurysm; allegedly right in front of the boy. This did two things: it severely traumatized Mark (who suffers night terrors about death to this day) and removed from his life one of only two supportive family members. In desperation, Mark's mother remarried to Bart Joye, an old friend of Jonathan's.
Bart was about half the man Jonathan was: having to be rescued from county after his arrest for DUI, Bart was jobless, penniless, and a complete loser dependent upon Marrienne, who now had to work overtime to support the family while Bart was stuck at home. Bart was less than engaging with Mark, gave him far too little attention, and made Mark feel unloved. This, coupled with kids picking on him at school for his odd behavior, led to Mark feeling like everyone else in the world was a "jerkface" and not wanting to engage with anyone. He couldn't form meaningful relationships with anyone, including a girl who was actually interested in him, and began to spiral into delinquent behavior such as stealing/shoplifting, smoking weed, and vandalizing the school gym and sports yard while skipping class.
One day, after a particularly explosve fight with Bart, Mark packed his 'bags' (some black trashbags with only three outfits, his video game consol, a few granola bars, and a juice) and lifted his stepdad's keys to the family SUV, stealing it to 'run away'. After careening through the streets of Rochester and slamming his parent's car into a building, he was arrested by police and sent to juvenile detention. After being bailed out by his folks, the decision was made to send Mark to Tempered Trails Social Reform School in lieu of psychometric probation.
Relatives/Family
Marriene Allen-Joye; Mother
Jonathan Allens; Natural father (deceased)
Barton Joye; Stepfather
Body
Fairly plain-looking, ordinary gray wolf: mostly gray fur with white muzzle, chest, and feet, Black hair, bright blue eyes. Somewhat small and scrawny, at least for a wolf, he can sometimes be easily picked on/beat up by bigger kids. His lack of distinguishing features can make him something of a 'natural wallflower'.
Clothing
Mark often wears baggy, oversized clothes, and long-sleeves and pants, partly because he is ashamed of his own body and how weak he is. He typically wears an assortment of sweatshirts/sweatpants, hoodies, baggy jeans, coats, and long-sleeved shirts.
Accessories
Mark has an iPod, but he often dares not carry it into the class building, either for fear that Mr. Richford will confiscate it, or Jan will swipe it.
