A year ago, I drew a Shadow who was powerful, intimidating and consumed by darkness. I based it on one of his abilities in Shadow Generations, and on this very song, a song I didn’t quite understand back then. I thought that, just like him, darkness was something I had to control, or hide.
But someone arrived with a gentle light. Not to save me, but to remind me that by accepting our darkness, we allow our light to grow.
Now I understand the song differently. And just as I’m about to finish Shadow Generations, a very emotional scene comes at the exact right moment: “without light there is only darkness, but a shadow will help you find the light.” (yeah… I cried T3T)
Today, I try to look at my darkness without fear, without turning away from it.
“(...) You whisper, can you hold me now? Because I know your darkness And I know you're not heartless (...)”
Thank you, for what you were. Thank you, for what you left behind. I recognize you in the light I now find in myself.

Un año atrás, dibujé un Shadow poderoso, oscuro e intimidante, basándome en uno de sus poderes en Shadow Generations y en esta misma canción, que en su momento no terminé de entender. Creía que, al igual que este personaje, la oscuridad era algo que debía dominar, o en su defecto, esconder.
Pero justo alguien llegó con una presencia luminosa. No para salvarme, sino para recordarme que aceptando esa oscuridad, potenciamos nuestra luz.
Ahora entiendo la canción de forma diferente. Y ahora que estoy a punto de acabar Shadow Generations, una escena muy emotiva aparece en el momento más oportuno: "sin luz solo hay oscuridad, pero una sombra te ayudará a encontrar la luz". (madre mía, los lagrimones T3T)
Hoy creo saber mirar mi oscuridad, aceptándola sin miedo a desaparecer en ella.

Gracias, por lo que fuiste. Gracias, por lo que dejaste. Te reconozco en la luz que ahora encuentro en mí.
