At last, the final ref sheet is completed! I present to you Dusk Forger, the last of the main trio for Solaris! :3

There’s not much to explain about Dusk that I haven’t already explained in my two previous posts. Moreover, much as with Umbra, I want to be cautious to not get into spoiler territory. But essentially, Dusk here is the older adopted brother of Sol, and the biological son of Gerald Forger, once a high ranking member of the global police force, and police partner to Adrian Seeker, Sol’s father. Dusk is quite a bit older than Sol, having been six years old at the time of Sol’s birth. This, in combination with his father’s insistence for him to care for Sol immensely, has made him assume the “older brother” role and mentality. Stern, mature, but nevertheless loving and playful. Overall, he can be described as a good hearted buck, with a strong sense of justice and desire to set things right.

He also, however, has an immense fear of predators. This is not surprising - many prey species even to the modern day, despite impressive technological, political and sociological advances since the dark ages, still hold great resentment and fear toward their sharptoothed brethren. For Dusk, however, it goes even deeper than that…

Alas, Gerald Forger, having gained quite a reputation at the time when he was in the police force, had also made many enemies. It was sabotage that allowed not only Adrian Seeker to be killed on that one fateful night, but that also allowed a group of predators, working with the people that killed Sol’s father, to barge into Dusk’s house and devour his mother. Dusk, on that terrible night, could do little more than whimper and sob from the closet as he heard, and even saw through the tiny gaps of the door, his mother eaten alive. Luckily, Dusk had remained untouched, and when Gerald eventually returned that night, he couldn’t help but run into his dad’s arms, the 6-year-old deer crying and sobbing terribly. And though Gerald, completely in a wreck himself, knelt down and consoled his son, he could not hug him back, for in his arms was the infant son of Adrian Seeker: Sol. Dusk, curious and frightened by the sight of the fox, was told they would have to move. Far away. Away from all his friends. Away from everything they knew. This was Sol, he explained. And they would have to make it their lifelong mission… to protect and care for him. At the behest of his great partner and lifelong friend, Adrian Seeker. With Gerald forced into retirement and a little brother now in his life, somehow Dusk knew that things were never going to be the same ever again…

Despite the traumatic events that occurred that night, and despite the relocation, Dusk still seemingly managed to have a fairly happy childhood. At first cautious around the fox, but gradually, slowly, learning to genuinely love him. Just as well as Umbra, who would often sneak into the forest by their new house. All three would play games and have so much fun together… until one day, now as teenagers, when Umbra and Dusk got into an undisclosed argument, that gradually turned into a full-on fight. After that, the two separated, leaving Sol alone with Gerald.

Much like Sol, Dusk also desired to be a police officer like his old man, but for reasons unknown, was instead turned into a special agent, returning to his old town at the beginning of the game, to inform Sol of Umbra’s whereabouts, and to confirm that, in fact, Sol is the wielder of Solaris: the only true weapon that can defeat Umbra and destroy the P.R.E.D once and for all. Being able to do little more than stun the monsters, unless said monster is already remarkably close to death, Dusk instead serves as Sol’s main repository and aid throughout the adventure, offering advice where he can and giving him support where possible…

Personality-wise, upon reuniting with Sol, Dusk has noticeably become a bit more cynical and envious, wishing he could be a true “hero” like his precious little bro. It’s something noticed and even pitied by Sol and Gerald, but Dusk still manages to take it in stride, still happy to help where he can. Ultimately, as long as they can restore balance and get their good friend Umbra back, Dusk can be satisfied.

Aaaand that’s about it for now! Phew… folf is exhausted. I hate working on ref sheets at all, so doing three back-to-back like this was pain. But somehow, still, also a lot of fun. I hope you all enjoy the characters as much as I’ve enjoyed making them, and I hope to make them shine even brighter, of course, in the game itself :3

Till later, take care all! :3
