The smell of toasted bread woke me up the next day; I sat on the bed, at first looking amazed for not to see the familiar scene I saw every time I woke up in my bed, then I remembered the events of the previous night. I took the robe, wearing it to cover me the best it could, put my flip flops, and after making the bed, I went to the kitchen. I saw the Pink Panther near the stove, where he was serving our plates, he turned and saw me in the frame of the door, he gave me the good afternoon; I was shocked for a moment, then he told me he just was pulling my leg, it was around 10 am, not exactly late, but also not early, but he was understandable, after what happened, it was normal I would be really tired. He invited me to the table, and once I sat, he served our breakfast; one fry egg, a slice of jam and a toast with butter, he excused there wasn’t much, that we’ll need to also buy groceries; I told he that it was ok, that being honest, there had been a long time since I had two meals hours apart of each other; I think my comment made him sad a little, and I excused; he told me that I have nothing to worry about, he once was in the situation I was, so he knows the feeling, and with a serious expression, he told me that from now on, he’ll take care of me; I felt so happy that I couldn’t avoid to cry, I told him he was the kindest person I have ever met, and I didn’t know how I would repay him for everything he was doing for me, but he assured me I had not to, after all, if not were because of his careless, maybe I’ll be in that moment with Pelvis Parsley in Las Vegas. “Forget about him”, I told him, “I’m pretty sure he was just going to like me just while I were pretty, and surely dating a celebrity will be a mess with noisy parkers following us all the time, the best will be to keep Pelvis Parsley out of our lives, unless you like his music” I said trying to lift his humor, and he answered that he prefers jazz and the music of Henry Mancini, I told him I was not familiar with any of them, and told me that he will put some vinyl records when we return from shopping, I gladly accepted and we continued our breakfast.
I changed the robe for the trench coat before leaving his house. We went to the garage, where he had a white car without top, he said he liked to feel the air in his fur, we hop inside, and we started our roll. During the travel, I asked him about his life and his job, he told me that he was some sort of jack of all trades, and he has had a lot of jobs, too much to remember all, but I remember he mentioned, desk job, baggage boy, secret spy, inventor, sheriff at gun point, thief (long story), anti-poaching agent, soldier, lumber jack, constructor, demolisher, magic toreador (another long story), violin player, orchestra director, waiter, chef, farmer, actor, finally he bought a diamonds mine that was very prolific, but he wasn’t allowed to sell too many diamonds to avoid to flood the market and low the price of diamonds, so his earnings were mainly from the diamonds he sells from time to time, royalties as actor, and also royalties for allow a diamond with a pink coloration inside that looks as a panther, and sold to a faraway country, shared his name, so he can allow himself to have a more or less carefree life. He really had a lot of adventures, maybe any other would call bogus to what he was saying, but as someone that lived a very unusual adventure, I believed him, and I asked him to tell me more about them some day.
