Geoffrey was looking for Ash within "Were" territory, which he was not allowed in being a "Vamp" so trying not to be seen he used his shadow magic to try and get around. What he didn't think would happen was that the full moon allowed certain "weres" the ability to see through spells, these being the main three Shadow, Scourge and Silver.
Geoffrey quickly finds this out as Scourge just so happened to notice Geoffrey's magic pass by but wasn't sure who it was so with his skills and abilities he rushed Geoffrey and caught him mid flight and was very happy with his catch before Shadow.
