no.15: Mullock the Glukkon - Oddworld

There's lot of shitty thing going on right now, isn't there? Normally I try to avoid anything remotely political or even things that are generally downers here as I pride myself on creating content that makes people happy. My content should be a small break from reality to enjoy something fun for a moment and really, why would my political view point matter to anyone? I'm a porn drawing chump...but regardless of whatever you opinion is I think we can agree that things kinda blow right now and a lot of it roots back to one thing -- Rampant capitalism/consumerism.

That's why I felt this year was the best time to show case a Glukkon. A greedy corporate suit hellbent on planetary control in the constant pursuit of the all holy dollar. Normally I probably wouldn't show case a character like Mullock. Not because I dislike Oddworld or that I think he's not a good villain. It's because Glukkons hit a little too close to home for me to want to give them any representation... but in the wake of the Switch 2 I felt pushed to do so. I know it's nothing more than a video game console and means nothing in the long run, but it's sheer testament to gluttonous greed pushed me over the edge a bit.

Perhaps it was my last bastion of happiness. I have followed Nintendo for a long, LONG time. Sure, they've always been a bunch of suits peddling toys to kids, but they were MY bunch of suits peddling toys to me. The Switch 2 was the first time ever in my history that I simply said no to getting one of their consoles. I won't be a tool. I cannot abide by what they're doing and I think a bit of me died that day. That small bit of filter between me and real world problems went away and the only thing I could think of in it's wake was 'Glukkon'.

I have used that term this year more times than I ever have before and I hate how applicable it it's become...but when life gives you lemons you make lemonade. I don't want to just sit around being bitter, nor do I want to glorify these kinds of practices from greedy CEOs to greedy politicians. So instead I'd rather think of them as what they are, pathetic, miserable weak creatures who merely exist because of money. It makes me feel a little bit better and maybe it'll help you to. I can't offer much, again I am but a porno drawing chump, but maybe we can all just enjoy a small moment of shitting on the awful Glukkons that have far too much power in our world. I will return to my silly Halloween content from here on out.
