In a world that's nearly all underwater, where even the universe itself sometimes conspires to force people underwater, a particular lucario and lampent have practically mastered the water. There isn't much of note that they haven't seen at this point, but recently they've heard of a trench in the seafloor that might have treasure! They both swam down together - the lampent needing to hold their breath despite what one might expect - but as they were about to enter the trench, the lampent stopped, their nerves getting the better of them.

The lucario quickly noticed that, and swam back to them to try to help comfort them. Even with as much experience as the two had, the lampent would still get nervous like this every now and then. Some words of encouragement from the lucario would always help though, and it was certainly made easier by the fact that natives of that watery world could speak clearly underwater. After a quick pep talk from the lucario, the lampent was feeling better enough to continue, and as they and the lucario held hands, the two resumed their descent, wondering what they were going to find...

Won by squirtlerocks07. Also maybe the first underwater art with a lampent?

squirtlerocks07 and I did an RP based on this.

S: in a world where swimming and diving is important to survive, a Lucario and lampent, both of which are besties, have found out there's some treasure lurking in a trench very deep underwater and of course, Lucario wants to investigate it, but lampent? He's not so sure as they get to the beach

Lucario - "Oh boy! I hope there's tons of treasure down there!"

L: Lampent nervously looks out at the water, thinking about how deep the dive is apparently going to go. "Um... A-are you sure this is the right place? M-maybe we should check somewhere else..." He's clearly just trying to stall, knowing that this is indeed the right place.

S: "Yes buddy this is the right place! I checked as well! This is the place, the trench is 2,000 feet underwater and the trench apparently goes even deeper"

L: "Th-that far!? Why did you have to wait until now to tell me that!?" Lampent backs away from the water, hating that he can't stop himself from imagining going so far underwater.

S: "I thought you wouldn't care how deep is was! Come on bud it won't be that bad! I promise!"

L: "No, that's way too deep! We're gonna get like half a mile underwater if we go into that trench, and it'd take ages to swim all the way back up when we'd need air!"

S: "Buddy, you do realize how long we can hold our breaths right? We'll be totally ok! I swear on it..."

L: "I-I know we can stay down a long time... Th-that's kind of part of the problem, I don't want to have to be down there that long..."

S: "I know buddy, but think about the treasure! There could be something cool down in that trench!"

L: "I don't think it's gonna be worth it... The pressure's gonna hurt, and it'll be hard to see... It'd have to be something awesome, and we have no way of knowing whether it actually is."

S: "We'll have goggles so youll be able to see but the pressure is nothing I can control sadly, but ill be right here with you the whole time buddy, I promise you'll be ok!"

L: Lampent sighs. "I know you're not going to give up, you never do... F-fine, let's just get this over with..."

S: "Thats the spirit buddy! Come on! Get your goggles on and lets go!" lucario gets his on before he gets into the water

L: Lampent gets his on and floats himself into the water, following Lucario. "This better at least be the right spot, I don't want to have to dive this deep a second time..."

S: they get to the center of the ocean
"I'm pretty sure this is where we need to go, we're right above the trench now, all we gotta do is swim down"

L: "O-okay... Let's get down and back quick at least, so we don't spend any more time down there than we have to..."

S: "Relax bud, we don't have to rush too much, jeez..."
lucario starts to take some deep breaths

L: "Easy for you to say, you actually LIKE being in water..." Lampent starts breathing deeply as well, nervously looking down the whole time.

S: "True, but still... we'll have a good time i swear!"

eventually it was time

"Alright, lets go bud...3...2...1!" lucario holds his breath and dives underwater, waiting for his bestie

L: Lampent hesitates for a couple seconds, before whining a little and taking one last deep breath, diving down with Lucario while tightly shutting his eyes.

S: lucario smiles as he sees Lampent come down

"Thats it buddy! You don't have to close your eyes, come on lets go!"

he starts to swim down deeper

L: Lampent slowly opens his eyes again. "A-alright... D-don't leave me behind!" He quickly swims down to rejoin Lucario, feeling at least a little bit better than he would since he's with his best friend.

S: lucario smiles more before they continue down deeper and deeper, letting some bubbles loose

L: Lampent tries his best not to lose any bubbles himself, wanting to maximize how much time he has. He holds where a nose would be on his face to help keep his air in.

S: lucario sees that and giggles out bubbles

"You look so silly doing that!"

he then proceeds to pinch his own nose shut as well, looking just as silly and cute, hoping to cheer lampent up as they keep going down

L: Lampent smiles a little at that - which is subtle since he doesn't have a visible mouth, though Lucario of all people would certainly be able to tell. "I guess this must look kind of funny, yeah..."

S: "Come on! You know I'm cute like this! That smile has to be bigger!!"

lucario gazes at Lampent adorably with his nose pinched shut, they are halfway there now

L: Lampent tries to focus on Lucario, distracting himself from the increasing depth. Still, he can feel the water pressure slowly increasing, and he's staying just as uncomfortable.

S: "That's it, focus on me buddy, don't pay attention to the water" lucario holds lampent's hand, trying to comfort him further as they keep sinking deeper and deeper, by now they are almost at the trench, lucario's face flushing a bit red

L: As the trench comes into view some distance below, Lampent gets even more nervous, looking down into its darkness. "D-do we really have to go in there?"

S: "Buddy we're already down here, no reason now to back out! Come on there's gotta be something good down there!"

L: When the two are about to enter the trench, the Lampent pulls away, staying at the entrance of it. "I-it's even more scary than I imagined it being... I-I can't go in there!"

S: lucario frowns before taking lampent's hand again in both of his paws this time, giving lampent a warm smile
"Hey hey, ill be ok! I promise! You do know if that anything were to go wrong I can simply teleport us back to the surface, I made sure to refill on that move before we left, ill be right here with you the whole time"

L: "G-glad you at least remembered this time... But what if something scary's down there? I don't know if you could teleport us soon enough to get away if we're attacked!"

S: "Don't worry, nobody is gonna mess with us as long as I'm here, now come on buddy let's go!"
lucario begins to guide him and lampent into the trench, his face turning more red but not caring right now

L: Lampent is getting a red face as well, and tries his best to be brave as he enters the trench. He's shaking a little bit in fear...

S: "I'm right here buddy...I'm not going anywhere..."
lucario continues to carefully go down the trench with lampent, and this goes on for a quite a long time, it was definitely deep, but lucario hopes there's actaully gonna be treasure and when they see it, they will know

L: "Why does this stupid trench have to be so deep..." Lampent looks around, hoping the treasure will come into view soon. He tries not to look up, knowing he's not going to be able to see the exit at this point.

S: "I don't know, but I'm sure we'll find something soon"
just as he said that, lucario and lampent touch the bottom of the trench, and lucario immediately finds something shiny off to the distance and immediately swims for it

L: "That better be the treasure, I want to leave already..." Lampent follows Lucario over, feeling like he HAS to stay near them or he'll panic.

S: and sure enough, it was treasure! It looked like some really rare gold or something, it must be worth a fortune!
"Wow, so this was the treasure they were talking about! Coool!!! Must be worth a ton of money!"
lucario picks it up

L: "Oh, it's real!" Lampent's fear fades for a moment, before it returns. "O-okay, now teleport us out of here!"

S: "Right!" lucario then snaps before they both vanish and return to the surface unharmed, lucario gasping for breath
"Oh, thank goodness it worked this time..."

L: Lampent gasps as well, his fear quickly fading again and staying gone this time. "Glad that's over... I guess it was kind of worth it..."

S: "Yep, we got this cool piece of treasure! See? Nothing to worry about bud! Now come on lets go see how much this is worth!"

and so, lucario and lampent run off to a shop to sell this gold, apparently it was worth a ton of cash! Definitely worth the trip, at least in lucario's book
