At last! The moment… well, I’VE been waiting for at least… bringing the fox boy to life! :D

Haha, yep, finally got around to making a ref sheet for Sol! Ugh… it took way too long honestly, I’ve never been a fan of making ref sheets. But I figured it’d be good to do, considering I AM planning to draw him quite a few times in the coming years, both in pixel art and in digital drawings like this, so having a reference is useful. Plus I feel it just helps make the character more official :3

In regards to his backstory, well… it’s a little complex to get into without knowing the lore of the entire game, which I’d prefer to hold off on disclosing fully for the moment. But essentially, Sol here comes from a long line of foxes, known for their bravery and heroism, and all are descendants of an almost legendary fox who, using the sword Solaris (featured in the left-most sketch), slew an evil wolf emperor 400 years ago, bringing peace and prosperity to the world, and ending a centuries-long struggle between predator and prey. Or so it seemed…

For indeed, in the modern day Sol finds himself having to wield the sword once more, to defeat, sadly, an old friend of his, Umbra Toole, a wolf who, wouldn’t you know it, is the descendant of the wolf emperor who first wished to instill an eternal night. Go figure.

Sol, alas, never got to know his parents. His father, Adrian Seeker, a respected and high ranking member of the global police force, was betrayed and murdered in an investigation upon Umbra’s father on the night of Sol’s birth. Through a feat of clever trickery (something foxes are known for), Adrian managed to conceal Solaris, which he’d had on him during the investigation and battle, before Umbra’s father, Christopher Toole, could destroy it forever. In his dying breaths, he entrusted his partner and lifelong deer friend, Gerald Forger, to flee, and to hide the sword and bring it to his wife when their son was born, and to train him for when the time would come for him to fight. Sadly, upon arriving at the hospital to deliver the news, Gerald only managed to hear the dying words from Melissa Seeker, Adrian’s wife - dying words that included naming her son, and begging for Gerald to care for him - before, due to complications in childbirth, she too passed on…

Thus Sol was raised entirely from birth by his adopted father Gerald Forger, Sol desiring to be a cop himself one day (hence the “officer-in-training” badge on his right breast.) He grew up alongside his adopted brother, Dusk Forger, whose mother, just as well, sadly passed away when he was very young. The two, despite Sol being a predator and Dusk being a prey, grew up to be good friends, and also became fast friends with Umbra, a sorrowful yet loving and kind wolf who would oftentimes sneak away into the woods to get away from his twisted father (most likely, so as to remain elusive, Umbra never fully discloses his relationship to his father to his friends). But things change as time goes on, and now, in the modern world, with Umbra gone and seemingly not acting like himself, and Dusk (now a special agent investigating Umbra’s whereabouts) there to offer support where he can, Sol must set things right once and for all, learning more about himself and the world as he does so…

Whew! And that, uh… that’s about it for now. Personality-wise, well, it’s sufficient to say Sol is a generally kind and loving fox, but has somewhat of a timid nature. He doesn’t actually care for fighting that much, overall he just wants peace and for everyone to be happy, but he knows he has to fight sometimes to make things right. He can be a bit emotional at times, but tries, once more, to control himself to maintain a good balance. He also, funny enough, can sometimes can have a bit of ‘tude, as that bottom right drawing eludes to x3

Annnnd… okay, I really think that’s about it this time. Hope y’all enjoy! Up next will probably be drawing Umbra’s ref sheet, and eventually Dusk’s after that. Ugh… it’s gonna be a lot of work, but I know it’ll be worth it!
