Kuromi had no idea that her date with Rhythm would go so well. But the overall outcome was way better than she could ever have imagined. From going out to a movie, to sharing a sweet treat at Hello Kitty’s shop, to suddenly having a full-blown sleepover for two at her house. She couldn’t have asked for a better time. And as for Rhythm, he knew that he was going to have a fun night with Kuromi. But what he got to experience blew away his expectations. Sharing a delicious, sweet treat, finding out new discoveries about Kuromi herself, and even getting to partake in Kuromi’s home swimming pool complete with a swirly slide that he enjoyed immensely. Not to mention that he got to cuddle close to Kuromi as well throughout the whole night. Especially when he slept with Kuromi in her bed. Now that was the most magical moment from the whole date for the both of them. But like all good things, it was all going to come to an end.
The following morning, Rhythm’s sister, My Melody decided to get up a little earlier than usual. Why? She wanted to freshen up early enough to pop over to Kuromi’s just for fun; but also to see how the new couple was doing after their first date. Once she got to the house door, she gave it a good knocking. Once no one answered, she knocked on it again. Still nothing.
“That’s weird,” said Melody to herself, “I wonder if they’re still here?”
To be on the safe side, Melody tried knocking on door once, but extra hard this time. At first, nothing happened. But soon enough, Melody suddenly saw the doorknob turn that eventually led to the door opening up. Melody went forward with her greeting.
“Good morning!” Melody happily exclaimed, “Just thought I’d make a little stop by here to see how you two are… OH!”
Right in front of Melody in the doorway was Kuromi who was wearing a robe. Her eyes were narrowed showing a rather unpleasant expression on her face.
“The hell, Melody?” Kuromi groaned, “Was all that knocking necessary?”
“Hee hee. Sorry, Kuromi,” Melody responded, “I wasn’t sure if you didn’t hear me or if you weren’t here. But I just wanted to be sure.”
After wiping her eyes a bit, Kuromi said, “Why are you here; and can it wait until later?”
“Well… I just thought I come over to see how things went with you and my brother. But I’m a bit surprised that you’re not fully awake yet. Its already past 9:30.”
Kuromi just groaned as she said, “Well excuse me for choosing to sleep in today. I had a rather productive night last night.”
“Oh, did you know?” said Melody with a little smirk.”
“Oh would you cut that out. Its nothing like that.”
Suddenly, Melody heard another familiar voice coming from behind Kuromi, “Hey… Kuromi? Uh… who is at the door? Are you almost done?”
Of course, it was Melody’s brother, who had also now woken up. However, unlike Kuromi, he chose to not put anything on when he did.
“Huh? Oh! Hi, sis,” Rhythm exclaimed as he waved, “and good morning!”
“What the… really, Rhythm?” Kuromi groaned, “Don’t you have just the tiniest bit of decency?”
“Hee hee. Good morning, lil’ bro,” said Melody feeling a bit amused, “I see you chose to sleep in the buff as usual.”
“As usual?” said Kuromi, “You mean you’re not bothered by this?”
“Of course not. Rhythm does this all the time. Besides, we both pretty much go around naked anyway. Hee hee, aside from our neat hoods that is.”
“I know, right?” Rhythm agreed, “That’s exactly what I told her. But in any case, last night, Kuromi was kind enough to share her bed with me. I slept like a baby, heh… especially since I got to cuddle up right beside her.”
Melody’s eyes went a bit wide upon hearing what Rhythm said. But then gave Kuromi a little mischievous look, “Oh, is that so? You got all close and was cuddling my brother in bed while he was clothe-less? How naughty of you.”
Both Melody and Rhythm began chuckling together at Kurom’s expense. Kuromi just rolled her eyes while slightly blushing, “Would you knock it off, My melody. It’s nothing like that. We just shared a bed together while cuddling each other to sleep. That’s all.”
“Oh, Kuromi, relax,” Melody chuckled, “I’m just messing with you. I have no doubt that you two had a great time. And that you did nothing malicious to my little brother.”
“Good to know,” said Kuromi giving Melody a little glare.
Rhythm had a little giggle before saying, “Kuromi and I really did have a great date night. And I really hope that we can do it again sometime.”
“Aw, that’s so sweet,” said Melody, “Do you feel the same way, Kuromi?”
“What kind of question is that?” said Kuromi, “Of course I feel the same way. Rhythm… Rhythm is a pretty sweet bunny to be around. I admit that I was a bit nervous and unsure of doing this whole thing. But… I’m glad I didn’t listen to myself for once. I had a really good time.”
Rhythm then gave Kuromi a big ol’ hug wrapping his arms around her as he said, “Thanks for saying that. I’m glad that I made your night with me worth it.”
Showing a little blush, Kuromi just responded, “Yeah yeah. So are you going to stay looking like that or are you going to go and change into your little outfit?”
“Hmm... I don’t know,” said Rhythm as he did a little pose, “I kinda like walking around like this. It makes me feel more free. Hee hee. Plus, I like how it makes you feel all flustered.”
Kuromi just glared at Rhythm and was softly growling at him signifying that she was slightly annoyed. But it might have been just because she was still a bit tired and cranky.
“Okay. Okay,” said Rhythm, “I’ll go and put on my apparel if it will make you feel better."
Rhythm then gave Kuromi a little kiss on her cheek before heading off to change. Despite still feeling a little cranky, Kuromi just chuckled showing a little smile.
“Hee hee. Well, Kuromi,” said Melody, “I say that your first date with my little brother went off without a hitch. I’m proud of you both.”
“Y-yeah. Well,” said Kuromi, “of course it did. Not that there was any doubt.”
The Melody stated, “So… when will your next date be?”
“Huh? Next date?!” Kuromi exclaimed, “What, you think that we’re just going to automatically do another date just like that?!”
“Well, not that it’s any of my business, but isn’t that how it always goes? You don’t want to wait too long for your next date, do you? Gotta keep that relationship fresh.”
Kuromi really wasn’t sure of that answer. She wasn’t planning that far ahead yet. But deep down, she knew Melody had a point.
“Look, my Melody,” said Kuromi, “We enjoyed ourselves and truly want to do this again. But at least give us time to reflect on what we’ve already done. Geez.”
“Whatever you say,” Melody responded, “Don’t let me stop you from doing your own thing.”
Rhythm suddenly came back out in his normal apparel shouting, “I’m all ready to go, My Melody! So what are you planning to do today?”
“Well, right now… not much,” Melody responded, “But you know, I heard that some of the boys might be going to skateboard together later. Want to get in on that?”
Rhythm wasn’t so sure as he said, “Well skateboarding is not really my thing, but… I guess I could give it a shot.”
Rhythm suddenly turned back to Kuromi as he went in and gave her another hug as he said, “Thanks again, for the date Kuromi. Let’s do this again real soon, okay?”
“Oh! Um, yeah,” said Kuromi bashfully as she hugged back, “Of course. We most definitely should.”
After that, Rhythm walked up beside Melody as they took their leave with both of them waving to each other.
“Why do feel like this good-bye feels so dramatic,” said Kuromi to herself, “Its not like I’m not going to see him again for a long time. We live in the same town for pete’s sake.”
“Sup’, Kuromi,” said a nearby voice, “Having a good day today?”
Kuromi looked up and saw stopping on a skateboard in front of her house was…
“Oh. Hey there… Badtz. Um… yeah. I guess I am. Where are you going off to on that thing?”
“Just on my way to the skate park,” Badtz responded, “I’m meeting up with some others there. You wanna come and join us? The more the merrier.”
Contemplating on it a bit, Kuromi was almost tempted; but she just said, “Um… nah. I’m good. I kinda have a couple things to do myself. But I think Rhythm might join you. He was just making his way there with My Melody.”
Having an understanding, Badtz responded, “Sweet. Thanks for letting me know. And speaking of Rhythm… I’m guessing your date went well, right?”
With a little smirk, Kuromi responded, “What’s it to you? You’re not going to get jealous again, are you?”
“Ha ha, very funny. You know I’m not. I’m very happy for you and Rhtyhm. And to be honest, I hope your relationship with him will be even stronger than what we had.”
“Yeah... I’m sure that we will,” said Kuromi with confidence, “I have no doubt about that. Thanks a lot.”
“No problem,” said Badtz before riding off on his skateboard, “And if you change your mind, you know where to find me?”
Seeing Badtz being completely fine with her now dating someone else besides him made Kuromi feel better about herself. She smiled and headed back into her house to prepare herself for the day. But once she got back to her bedroom, Kuromi noticed something that was left on her bed.
“What? What is this?”
It was a folded piece of paper. Kuromi knew she didn’t leave it here, so could it have been Rhythm who left it? Out of pure curiosity, Kuromi picked up the paper and unfolded it to reveal it being… a letter. It read…
Dear Kuromi,
Roses are red, violets are blue. My Melody is pretty sweet, but so are you. And even though I can be a bit much, I hope you found being with me was fun and such. Seeing your sweet smile and beautiful eyes are something I hold onto close, but it’s your honest heart that I love the most. The future ahead us may be clear, but I’ll do anything to be with you… my dear.
Sincerely,
Rhythm
ps: sorry for the corny rhymes. I just couldn’t help myself. ^^
“Heh heh. That stupid bunny,” said Kuromi with a chuckle while wiping away some tears, “Who does he think he is leaving such a sappy letter on my bed without me knowing.”
With the day now young once again, Kuromi was now free to do whatever she wanted. But now knowing where some of her friends and a certain boy bunny were, perhaps she already decided what to do next.
“You know what? Maybe I will join the others after all.”
