Matthew Wander was my brother Matt's character in my Runequest campaign. A landless noble, Wander was a member of the cult of Storm Bull, the god of berserkers, whose worshippers are renowned for their fury in battle. The cult's Runes are Death, Air/Storm, and Beast, and its goal is the destruction of Chaos, the corruption that infests the world of Glorantha. Storm Bull's hatred of Chaos is absolute and uncompromising. His worshippers' motto is "Any Chaos is all Chaos." Wander eventually became a Rune Lord-Priest of Storm Bull, a mighty warrior who could also cast powerful Rune magic.
Despite belonging to a cult whose members are generally regarded as savage brutes, Wander was actually an intelligent, educated, and civilized man, at least until he encountered a creature or worshipper of Chaos. Then, he would transform into a living engine of destruction, letting nothing stand in his way until the Chaos was eradicated.
