A color version of my first and most beloved fantasy RPG character, Ssard the Reptile Man, after I adapted him to Runequest. Characters in Runequest typically belong to one or more cults of the many gods of Glorantha, and each cult has several Runes, symbols with power inherent in them that serve as aids in manipulating the universe. Characters gain Runes as they work their way up through their cult's ranks, by serving the cult and advancing its goals. Ssard belonged to the cult of Humakt, the god of soldiers, whose Runes (shown in the upper right corner) are Death and Truth. Becoming a Rune Lord of Humakt is the closest thing Runequest has to a classic D&D paladin, though technically any Rune Lord of any cult could be considered a paladin, since they're warriors in the service of a deity.
