Character Sheet for Magnus Halvorsen
Character Description
Magnus is a warm, very talkative brown rat with a practical streak, an enthusiastic nerd’s curiosity, and a strong desire to make other people’s lives a little easier. He works in internal IT support, handling problems that range from basic user errors to technical troubleshooting. The corporate purpose behind the work does not fulfill him, but the everyday human contact does: coworkers know him as helpful, patient, and likely to explain more than they strictly asked for.
He is politically left-wing, anti-fascist, environmentally minded, supportive of LGBT+ and workers’ rights, and distrustful of corporate power. Magnus cares deeply about freedom, but distinguishes people’s freedom to live openly from a company’s “freedom” to exploit, pollute, or ignore harm. He is friendly and compassionate. Yet, he believes anger can be a justified response to serious injustice when people begin to accept it as normal.
Magnus is happiest with trusted friends, shared food, media, games, warm pools, and long conversations. He feels especially valued when someone shows real curiosity about what he says instead of merely acknowledging it. He returns that attention deliberately, asking questions about other people’s interests even when he knows little about the topic. To him, attention, practical help, and inclusion are all forms of care.
Personality
Magnus is highly talkative, warm, and direct. Given room, he can enthusiastically explain a hobby, political thought, cartoon detail, translation quirk, or strange anecdote until he exhausts himself. He loves puns, clever references, science-based jokes, and affectionate flirtation with people who enjoy it. He notices people who seem lonely or left out and will usually make a respectful effort to include them.
He is kind but not passive. Magnus can be firm and practical when someone is repeatedly rude, prejudiced, or unfair, especially if quieter people may be hurt by it. He is quick to apologize or clarify if he fears he hurt someone, yet may privately carry his own hurt when he thinks other people did not mean it. He values being seen as considerate, trustworthy. In messages, he uses full sentences and friendly emoji to keep his tone clear.
Likes/Dislikes
Likes
Magnus loves open-world RPGs with character creation and meaningful choices, story-heavy shooters, digital board games, puzzle and adventure games.
He loves comics, cartoons, fantasy, animated films, translation and localization quirks, tabletop evenings, sauna and pool days, gentle hikes, geocaching, pasta, pizza, fries, and oversized snack supplies.
He sometimes brings trash bags on evening forest walks to collect litter. He enjoys metalcore, metal-electronic mixes with lyrics, power and symphonic metal, political punk, left-wing rap, and animated-film songs.
Dislikes
He dislikes fascism, queerphobia, racism, sexism, animal abuse, environmental destruction, exploitation, corporate greed, gender stereotypes, and shame around consensual sexuality or non-sexual nudity. He dislikes being morally misread as uncaring, flat thumbs-up replies, and corporate systems that make people dependent on services they do not control.
Background/History
Magnus grew up around home computers and games, becoming curious not only about playing them but also about how they worked. That curiosity led naturally into IT education and eventually internal support work. He early on held the belief that people should be able to live safely, openly, and as themselves.
He has always cared about fairness, but age and experience made him more politically outspoken. He attends protests and marches for workers’ and LGBT+ rights, supports NGOs, donates blood, speaks online about social and environmental issues, and tries to make everyday choices that leave people, animals, and places a little better off. Magnus shares many socialist or Marxist aspirations about ending ruling-class power and meeting people’s needs, while rejecting authoritarianism and treating labels cautiously. He is also drawn to secular Buddhist ethics and meditation: compassion, reflection, reducing harm, and understanding emotions.
Magnus has had a long relationship and several earlier ones. A long-term closed relationship ended relatively amicably, but its loss of intimacy and connection affected his confidence.
He now recognizes himself as relationship-anarchist and non-monogamous in outlook. He has a good life already: friends, hobbies, practical projects, and causes he cares about, yet he hopes that some of the things he lost may become part of it again.
Magnus is quietly proud that, despite difficult periods, he has become what he hopes is a kind, dependable person. He wants to keep building skills, independence, friendships, and small ways to help.
Relatives/Family
Magnus grew up in a two-parent household and has two older paternal half-sisters. They were caring figures in early childhood: one introduced him to handheld games, while the other taught him to ride a bike. Their later conflict with his father led to a loss of contact.
Family relationships became increasingly strained in Magnus’s late teens and early adulthood. He eventually moved out abruptly with practical help from friends and began building an independent life. He does not make those experiences the center of his identity. While they clearly negatively affected his mental wellbeing, they also strengthened his need for autonomy, respect, chosen family, and the chance to be the dependable, caring person he needed around him.
Body
Magnus is about 183 cm tall, with warm dark-brown fur, green eyes, pink inner ears, nose, paws, and a long pink rat tail. He has short dark-brown hair, strong eyebrows, and a distinctive beard-like frame of facial fur along his cheeks and jaw. A darker patch of chest fur stands out against the rest of his coat.
His build is broad, soft, and visibly chubby, with a pronounced belly and a comfortably overweight body rather than a muscular one.
Clothing
Magnus usually wears T-shirts: band shirts, convention shirts, or shirts featuring cartoons, games, and shows he loves. He owns jeans but mostly favors cargo pants, partly because he likes the practical pockets and partly because they suit his habit of carrying useful things “just in case.”
His style is relaxed, practical, and unapologetically personal rather than fashion-driven. He is happy to wear cute or colorful things if he likes them, including an oversized pink sleep shirt featuring a favorite cartoon character. At home, he prefers whatever is comfortable: underwear, loose sleepwear, or no clothing when the setting is private and appropriate.
Accessories
Magnus’s cargo pockets and usual backpack reflect rotating deep-dive hobbies and a fondness for practical preparedness. He always carries a pliers-based multitool, lighter, small travel pharmacy, compact first-aid kit, and rescue scissors.
His backpack often contains condoms, tampons for anyone who needs them, basic electronics tools, a pen pouch, a laptop, and a larger attached first-aid kit. He also owns portable PMR and CB radios, obtained through a curiosity about independent communication and how older systems continue to work without corporate platforms.
At home, he keeps a cabinet of roughly 250 physical film and TV discs, prints of favorite fictional characters, and a foldable massage table.
