This is my first redesign of Snjokorn, I handed a lot of information over to Inert who, graciously, did a great job of seeing my ideas through. He was based mostly on my BG3 character, but I made a lot of changes in order to make him look more like a (copper) Half dragon and to make him look more masculin, since I used the Female dragonborn body. I kind of like a more lithe looking character anyway. It was also important for me to bring out more of his copper dragon side, I love the in game models (despite plantigrade instead of digitigrade,) and I'm fully aware they are meant to just be Dragonborn's nothing more. Still I wanted to make this character more of his own.
For the longest time, the backstory of my character 'Snjokorn' kind of stumped me. I wasn't sure what to do with him as, in my mind, he was always just more of a 'if I was in the game but a Dragonborn' character as opposed to anything serious. I then thought about one of my personal favourite tropes I rarely ever use, the one of an ordinary person being put into extraordinary cirumstances. I was already kind of going down this path anyway; for a while I just had him as a trader before the events of the game, but this is when I really started to embrace the idea.
Great heroes, even the greatest, sometimes come from unlikely places
Voldas, his father, worked as a weapons smith of Bows and Arrows, an extremely unexpected thing for a copper dragon to do. He was doing it at the time for two reasons: Both earn his keep in the city, his Copper dragon self liking socialisation and to entertain, and also to pay back the city for a past offence that he committed, doing this by creating bows and arrows for the flaming fist, who he charged a fraction of a usual price for. Due to this Snjokorn learned this trade through his father, from a young age introduced to it and how to do it. Despite being very well gifted in sorcery, Snjokorn also learned how to use bows, though for self defence and attack he will use sorcery 99.9% of the time.
When Snjokorn turned 17 and his brother turned 15, Voldas left them the shop, heading out into the world again to find new places, new adventures and people to talk to. Snjokorn and his brother entered a partnership, bringing the shop into the more commercial space as opposed to mostly defence forces. Snjokorn renamed it to "The better arrow" in order to appeal more to the public, as opposed to the old name which was "Voldas arrow company" Which he saw as too flat and boring. Although Snjokorn is capable of crafting bows & arrows and does still do it, he is mostly responsible for heading the store and making deals with companies, this is due to his naturally high charisma, which was seen as an advantage over Havren, as for Edith, who stayed with the brothers, she managed the financial and resource stocking side, and Havren mostly managed the crafting of the stock.
In this image shown, we See Snjokorn making a bow, during off peak hours he will head into the back and help his brother out, going only to the front when a customer enters, and he will help havren out if he falls behind during closed hours. In this image he would be 21 years old, which is aproximately 1 year before the events of the game.
Hey there, thanks for taking the time to read all this! it's not my finest work, I'll admit. I was kind of stuck on what to write though and, honestly, this was always meant to just be more a redesign than as story related content, showing what I want Snjokorn to look like and his role before the events of the game as a guild artisan. I will eventually have more coming out on him, so please, if you enjoyed this, give me a watch to see more. Also please go and give Inert ren a check out, he is a cool artist.
