"That morning began sour and lifeless like every other, the pale dead sun rose around half of a normal morning was supposed to be, the soldiers of the militia were nervous, the nearby village was silent for 3 days and three nights, we had to investigate already fearing the worse, we gathered a group of 20 fighters and Danadriel our Yeenogre, we braved the foggy road to reach the village armed with the best we had.
Everyone was worrying about the villagers and I especially, my sister Isabel lived on that village, she had recently married and was expecting her first litter, I was praying to the gods to protect her as I marched on that foggy road.
Once we reached the village we met the worst case scenario...their defenses were overrun, the creatures of the night barged in and massacred the townsfolk, terrifically mangled soldiers lied all over the destroyed gates, they fought bravely but it was not enough, people died painfully entrenched on their humble houses...even the pet and livestock animals had terrible deaths, once we reached the middle of the town we faced with terrible discovery, all the children of the town were dragged there by the night creatures and sacrificed in honor to some foul deity...
Before we could even purify their bodies and bright them to the holy flame we heard a distant shriek...we were not alone...creatures of nightmare began to pour from every street and dark alley way...but we are not the rookies like we were months ago, we are galvanized soldiers blessed by holy light! I rallied the men in shield formation and we met the monster tide like a fortress of flesh faith and steel, they howl and screamed trying to harm us with madded swings of their deformed limbs, but we anhilated them! in minutes the horde was reduced to carcasses on the townsquare, Danadriel as always claimed most of the kills with her giant club as we covered her back, with the horde destroyed we separated in small groups to look for survivors and gather supplies.
I went straight for my sister's house at the top of a hill...I had no hopes of finding her alive but I wanted to at least be able to give her a proper burial, we met resistance in the hill, but with courage and fury we dispatched all the abominations, once I reached my sisters abode we found a strange scenario, several night creatures dead and roting upon the entrance, the way in was mostly blocked by destroyed furniture and monster corpses, once we cleared our way we barged inside carefully, I could hear steps inside the kitchen, I came inside expecting another monster but for my surprise I found my sister Isabel alive!
She was out of herself, insane by the contact with creatures and 3 days and nights of non stop fight, before I could say anything she attacked me viciously with her falx sword, I struggled to block he rabid attacks, I only found an opening when her sword cleaved trough my shield geting stuck, with the help of the others I was able to disarm her and tie her up with pieces of cloth and cord.
Once we were done salvaging what we could from the destroyed village we returned to the fortress, and I took my afflicted sister to the priestesses of light, I begged them to try anything that could save her and her unborn children, the priestesses decided to try something new and radical, with their magic they entered my sister's memories and muddiled and blurried the last days in the hopes of clearing her mind of the nightmares she fought to survive, she stod in a coma for almost a day and half and I stood by her side during all this time.
Once she woke up she was very confused but happy to see me, I had the arduous duty of explaining her everything that happened, her husband and all her friends of tha village were dead and she was the only survivor, despite being healed of the madness she still had to deal with the pain and loss of that situation, now days later she still very sad and defeated, but I can feel the embers inside her soul reigniting, she got a job in the massive fortress kitchen and the other ladies there are giving her immense support...things will be good for her, I know that.."
