Nova is a villain from the morph planet. He intended to conquer the Earth, and often his plans to do so revolved around obtaining the Mask of Enerjak. (Yes, THAT Enerjak, from the Archie Sonic comics.) As a morph, he has the uncommon ability to shift into liquid forms.
Nova died in the destruction of Space Colony ARK towards the end of Sonic GeneX: Doomsday. You could say Enerjak died too.
