The Magus Duels started with Ion getting an win easily over his first match opponent, even with his lightning adeptness natural weakness against his opponent's Gaia one, Ion's power level in Psynergy was more then enough to overcome that small disadvantage, even with being a year younger then his opponents with having a lesser developed Æther flow because of that. The next fight was more of the same even with getting the short hand of the stick twice in terms of the elements Ion had to face, his skill were on another level at this point that there was only really one other in his bracket that would be on his level, though there were others who were close. The next match Ion got to show off a little more as the skill level was increasing, a fire user which made for a ore even playing field but they too fell to Ion's overwhelming lightning, gaining Ion a place in the quarterfinals. Next up was the only other lightning user in this tournament, as lightning adeptness being a more rare trait, having two adepts of that element going up against each other was a special treat. She was one of the other ones that were close to Ion's level which made the match a lot more exhilarating, the bursts of lightning clattering down upon the arena with the booms of thunder coming hear after, a prowess stormfall of two lightning adepts clashing out that had not been seen in almost a decade within these duels, the sight was one to see. As the battle when on, Ion was able to tune to his opponent's frequency, basically absorbing the lightning they were able to call forth and counter it back combined with overwhelming bursts of his own, she too eventually fell to his lightning, the cold chill property of Ion's also having a degrading effect on her over time also gave an edge to Ion towards the climax, making it easier for him to tune to her frequency. Then here in the semifinal, finally came the showdown with him, a rival Ion has since he started in the Spellcrafters and one that had adeptness that countered his own, that of Gaia. Ion had hoped a bit that he would of been taken out before the bracket got to him but there was also that wanting of testing your metal against someone who you have deep competition with, especially with someone who has a chip on their shoulder like he does, constantly reprimanding Ion that he is his elder and should be treated as such just because he is a year older though both him and Ion are in the same level. But even so this matchup even with similarly skilled Fledglings would not be a favorable one as even Ion's power advantage over his elemental weakness would not be as effective here with two Fledglings that are of a higher power level, overwhelming his opponent with high power attacks like in some of the other matches against Gaia users would be reckless here, he would have to rely on his cunningness in combination with his unique skills more which could give him a edge but is was still a bad matchup for him overall, a worst case scenario. Taking his stand on his corner, Ion would not waver, he was determined to win, determined to show what he can do even in the face of weakness, determined to show he was the top of his elder peers and that he belonged here.
