woohoo, i've never done a ref sheet commission before! thank you Entriech for being SO wonderful and so much fun to work with throughout the whole process <3<3
since finishing my ref for Vits, i've been thinking a lot about creative approaches to ref sheets - NEXTEL is a huge inspiration to me in this area. the design for Vits' ref sheet is modelled after Victorian magazines, and i had ambitions to make one for Stygg based on biological diagrams/illustrations from the same era. so when Entriech approached me for this project, i wanted to find a way to reflect their aesthetic like that too! after a lot of back-and-forth, i ended up creating a very satisfying collage of all sorts of different design inspirations that make them tick - punk albums, movie posters, video game magazines... plus of course designing the character themself, and coming up with a colour scheme (including theme colours) that summed up their vibe. shapes, fonts, compositions..... ARGH i love it
the mirror selfie POV aspect was actually my wife's idea! he came up with a lot of bangers.. playing cards, tarot cards, stained glass..... i'd be very interested in pursuing these ideas if they're up anyone else's alley 👁️👁️
