Today is the 19th anniversary of my GeneX fanfic series. The next year being the 20th, I've started a project to illustrate every (major) chapter in the series! (sfw only)
So we start with the first story, GeneX - Tails the Fox! I'll go over each pic chapter by chapter and briefly explain them. Or you could read the fanfic. I've got pools for the stories, and bigger stories have been collected into arcs as well, like this arc here: https://inkbunny.net/s/2814231
Ch. 1 - The Doomsayer appears before Tails amidst a thunderstorm, warning of his impending death before vanishing...
Ch. 2 - Tails rescues Cream on the first "stage," Danger St. Actually he teamed up with Cream to rescue Amy, but I couldn't get a good story-accurate result. When this popped up, I decided to take a little liberty with the source material. If I were to rewrite it, maybe this scene would happen. (I will not rewrite the series.)
Ch. 3 - Metal Sonic breaks into the Death Row prison facility in order to break out "Experiment 2," who Eggman wishes to recruit for his plan.
Ch. 4 - The black fox, Experiment 2, makes his way through the prison. I couldn't get a result I liked here, tbh.
Ch. 4 extra - "Guard" the Gargoyle gets in Experiment 2's way. He sees the fox fly and calls him a "Copter," giving Experiment 2 his name. Then Copter knocks him out the window to his supposed death...
Ch. 5 - Knuckles fights with Experiment 1, both accusing one another of causing the Master Emerald's disappearance. Not pictured: Rouge knocks them both out and gets a head start searching for the emerald.
Ch. 6 - Knuckles meets a dragon named Gemini, who lost her magic wand! She helps him explore the stage "Lava Glacier," in exchange for Knuckles helping her find her wand. Her spell book is missing, too, unfortunately.
Ch. 7 - Metal Sonic guards the Master Emerald?? After fighting over it for a while, Knuckles discovers that this emerald is a fake!
Ch. 8 - Experiment 1 encounters Rainbow the Echidna in the Hidden Ruins underneath Station Square. She names him "Punchy" after he protects her from danger, and she leads him on a tour of her secret home.
Ch. 9 - Illusi the Shrew tests Punchy, trapping him in darkness and making him fight illusionary creatures.
Ch. 10 - Eggman welcomes Copter to his team. They will find 2 Chaos Emeralds, which will unlock a hidden treasure that can power up Copter...
Ch. 11 - Sonic & Tails meet up at Glitter Casino. They race to find a Chaos Emerald before Eggman, guided by Tails' new robot, SPOT (not pictured).
Ch. 12 - Shadow discovers the laboratory, "Shadow Arc," and after a run-in with Experiments 4 & 5, he is left to battle a Losol Golem, one of the undead Lost One monsters.
Ch. 13 - Tails encounters Copter, and they fight over the Chaos Emerald. (Meanwhile, Sonic has been fighting a robot named Rouletar.) Copter decides the fight is wasting too much of his time and abandons the Chaos Emerald, promising to meet Tails again.
Next month, I'll cover the second arc. I hope you enjoy this visual history of the GeneX series! We'll see how far I get through the series...
