Character Sheet for Pounce
Character Description
He is 4ft 2in by imperial measurement. He is known as an Acied, one of many recognized species on the planet Byleah. All sentient species are recognized by the name Ventid. In human terms, he is a chimera - this species is defined by the small cat nose, lion mane like fur around the neck, curly pug-like tail and fangs. Additionally, some species of Acied have a type of camouflaged leg, so as to give the appearance of floating feet.
Personality
Naturally curious and playful. Can waffle between confidence and doubt. Picks things up quickly, but struggles to keep focused. Friendly and kind, but forgetful.

Background/History
Pounce is the name given to him by a caretaker that nurses all ventids at birth. Names can be religiously inspired, or given based on personal characteristics or personal leanings. They keep this name until they reach the age of etewenwai - ("ceremony of perfected life") where they take on a name of their own choosing. While many ventids do have parents, Pounce was unclaimed and so is raised as an orphan. He spends a lot of time in the fields and forest, exploring and wanted to learn more about the world around him. Eventually he visited the Great City, which inspired him to become more interested in the Greater Studies. Unfortunately, he's terrible at applying himself, so he is well educated, but struggles to find his place in society.
Relatives/Family
Pounce has no known relatives. Most ventids are formed via an egg, then taken to a sacred site that has properties that make birth more likely. But because of this, it is possible for someone to bring an egg to the site in secret and then not come back for them after birth.
World/Setting
The world of Ventids AKA Byleah is complicated and honestly, I haven't explored it in full yet. Here is a taste of the world he exists in:
Acieds are one of many species of sentient beings living on the planet Byleah. For a long time, they lived a primitive life. However, 800 years before modern time, a planet suddenly appeared in orbit of their own. This sudden appearance begins the age of intellectualism, something that could be compared to human history, except at an accelerated rate. The desire to go to the planet that appeared suddenly was so strong that they were determined to reach it.
All species of sentient life on the planet are called Ventids. Non-sentient counterparts are called "(Class)utids" There are many species of Ventid that have Vencid counterparts.
EX: Jcied / Jutid
A religion was born from the appearance of the planet in the sky, that it brought new life, that gods live on it, and they provide blessings (meteorites) that grant life and other wonders. Species can only natural birth with their own species, but mixed species birth has been possible via mutation from meteorite debris. Most species, alike or not, will produce an egg, but mixed species will not hatch without the Ha(Breath)Wai (Life) Hawai. The act of sex is seen more as a performative act then a function only for procreation. The mutation meteors bring cause supernatural birth, sometimes of species not known to "canon". These are called Veuvacieds - (People [Veu] Without [va] Sentient Classification [cieds]).
When a Vencid or Veuvacied is born, they are kept at a nursery and given their birth name. Vencids get to choose their true name as part of a ritual that brings them into adulthood.
Obviously, not all believe that the Bywai (life earth) is the home of the Gods, or that it's a good idea to explore it. This group of people is often hostile to the planet, it's origins, and sciences explanations of these things. Some extremists even want nothing to do with anything learned or known from the planet - they feel it is taking away what makes Vencids their own people.... even though in reality, their species would not exist as it is without Bywai's presence. They call themselves "Byleahtelems" (Earth [tel = original] [ems = believers]).
Keep in mind that Vencids cannot reproduce at the luxury that humans can. There are only 920 Million living Vencids on all of Byleth. Of them, 87% is Vencid, 13% Veuvacid. This is in part because inter species relationships are seen as not of bywai, but also because veuvacids tend to have more birth defects and problems. They tend to not resemble any particular species, either. In fact, the child of an inter-species couple can at times have no discernible physical trait linked to their parents.
One of the ceremonies that is performed is at the age of "perfection", or in other words, when the person has reached full maturity. They take on a bandana of sorts that symbolizes the responsibilities of becoming the person the gods believe you are meant to be at that point - good or bad. At this ceremony, you get to choose a name for yourself. The belief is that whatever life the gods have led you on to that point, will also lead you to deciding the right name for yourself. It is called the etewenwai.

Body
Pounce has a round head, with very puffy read hair on top, split into 3 sections. It curves around the ears and meets on the back of the head. His ears are fluffy and have small rounded bits that hang off the edge. His body is a saffron yellow color. He has brown fluffy eyebrows and a brown "mane" that grows around his neck / upper chest. He has 2 small fangs that hang out of his mouth. He has large, fluffy whiskers that hang off the side of his cheeks. Pounce is an Acied that has no visible legs. His feet are red and Kirby-like. Acieds have 5 fingered hands. He has a curly tail, not unlike a pug or pig. His eye color is violet.
Clothing
Acied typically do not need to wear clothing - their fur and their bodily functions hide their anus and reproductive parts, so it is seen as culturally acceptable as long as you don't shave off the fur in those spots. That being said, Acieds can still wear clothing, and Pounce is known to like occasionally wearing cool shirts, hats, or sunglasses.

He does not wear any accessories.
