It’s another day in the big city and the firehouse band was putting on a concert at Central Park. A crowd of 150 people were there to listen to the band play their music. Amongst the crowd was George and the Man with the yellow hat , who listened to the band play their music elegantly. After the concert ended , an idea popped inside George’s head. George thought about starting his own band and after going around town and gathering his friends , I things were looking good. However , there snags in the way. first , George tried to use The Man with the Yellow Hats tuba , but found out it was too heavy to use. After a suggestion by the Man with the yellow hat, George then decided to make instruments out of ordinary items around the house. Then , George gathered his friends Charkie , Betsy , Steve and Gnoochi the homemade instruments (Charkie a squeaky ball, Gnoochi old keys and key ring of which she put on her wrist , Betsy a homemade string instrument and Steve a wooden spoon and aluminum plate on a string) , much to their puzzlement. Seeing everything all straight , George then asked his friends to play the instruments and the results were less than stellar. The instruments Charkie and her friends played made noise but not music , so much noise that it prompted Hundley to arrive , covering his ears and chastising George and others for making such a racket. Because of that , all the children left the roof with confusion and disappointment when they met Samantha , Hanna and later the Man with the Yellow Hat. The Man with the yellow hat noticed the homemade instruments the group was carrying and asked if they [George and his friends] were starting a band and about the noise the roof. After a brief discussion , the Man with the Yellow Hat wished the kids good luck. However Samantha and Hanna noticed the bewilderment on Charkie and her friends faces and then noticed George is gone. Everyone then went looking for him [George] , before arriving at George’s apartment where the Man with the Yellow Hat said that George is watching tv in the living room. After arriving in the living room , Charkie , Hanna and the others noticed how said George looked. Seeing this and realizing that George’s sadness was the result of the band sounding awful, the kids came up with idea to cheer their friend up. Later on George was in his room, still mooing when Charkie came in and said to George that she’s got something to show him. George and Charkie then headed outside and walked to the apartment that Charkie lives. Then Charkie called George to the backyard where he was greeted with a tremendous surprise, a concert in the backyard! Charkie explained to George that she’s got something and her Friends pitched in and created a better band. Overjoyed , George hugged Charkie. After that , everyone prepared themselves and the backyard concert began and the performance was excellent, so excellent that everyone applauded when concert was over.
