Barry finds herself trapped on an infinite stretch of beach outside of her own plane of existence, bordered by endless ocean on one side and impenetrably dense foliage in the other, “Barry Beach”. When she puts her head under the waves she can see the smiling face of her god, but he’s not as she was taught.
Trehhav finds himself also in a landscape just as alien to himself after train hopping and smuggling himself into the sprawling megacity of Ken Drakurum, the interior of a hospital with a labyrinth of hallways and locked doors which feel just as infinite, yet suffocating.
Sejrintine, now in her early 50s but still living life as a drifter, continues to exist in the same place she always has, Ken Drakurum, which as a citizen by birth, she is barred from leaving. This is something she had always bitterly resented, but has learned to make peace with her situation.
Helper the English pouter is now in his 30s, geriatric for a pigeon, but still kicking along.
Barry and Trehhav cross paths and befriend eachother, Trehhav’s first ever friend, as Barry discovers herself able to project herself into his mind, and, to his eyes and within his frame of vision only, appear in his physical surroundings, a planet foreign to her own, but the setting familiar, as prior to her inadvertent entry to Barry Beach, she resided in a defunct hospital with the rest of her pack.
After Trehhav’s release he is left with nowhere to go, but is soon encountered by Sejrintine, intrigued by a new troubled freak to take under her wing, who had fled the place she most desired to flee to.
