I was not alive back then, but I am aware about the controversial ban of Speedy Gonzales back from 1999.

It was banned because of “negative depictions of Mexican stereotype”, yet the Latin Americans said otherwise and viewed Speedy as a positive representation to the Hispanic community.

And as Latina herself, Lupe not only appreciates the Looney Tunes character, but as you can see, she absolutely adores this fast mouse. Hell, she even loves her plush of him.
