Freya is one I've drawn a lot. In fact they're the only Final Fantasy IX character I've really drawn much of but... not exactly for savory reasons. So it was about time I gave her some respect aside from wank fodder, because she is one of my favorites in the game.

With that in mind I thought her design was one that I had literally no issues with. That was until I actually started drawing her and I kept realizing more and more places where I would change her to my own specifications. (I gotta stop doing this, or maybe keep doing it depending on the perspective)

All in all, Freya is still a great design either way and is horribly under utilized in game. I think there's a lot of ways to fix this, but I won't go into that less I go into one massive head canon rant and no one wants that...unless you do? I don't know!

Also, in relation to that last paragraph; I recall reading a couple articles about the development of FF9 years ago, and they both mentioned that in order to meet deadline, the team had to cut an entire city from the last act of the game. That meant several party members' stories that were meant to continue there instead got cut short, with both Freya and Amarant being named in particular. Uh, it was also where some foreshadowing of the final boss was meant to go.
