Escarole is the son of Eggman and Scourge, from a timeline where the former had captured the latter for scientific studies. The doc had been curious on how different he was to Sonic, as well as how similar, and what the Master Emerald did to his biology... And things just escalated.
This grungy young man is even more of a rebel than his old man, finding Eggman a creep and Scourge pathetic. Despite being half-human, he is proud of his looks, and refuses to let others knock him down--or even worse, will sometimes encourage potential bullies to go for his dad (this usually ends up with said bullies getting their asses handed to them).
He's a proud vandal and lover of all things mischief, preferring random acts of chaos over grand ambitions.
Hrm... I suppose I can share the fact that, while he didn't inherit Scourge's super speed or Eggman's super strength, they sort of mixed into a sort of unique ability that makes him a monster in combat. Any physical attack, like a punch or kick, he essentially can absorb and redirect at his opponent.
He also loves games like strip poker--anything that involves the loser taking clothes off.
