The mission was a simple one on paper, but as the two Shadow Division members discovered, a bigger plot was ongoing behind the scenes. To which the pair would have to get word back to the Guild ASPS.
Off in a far distance region, the two had infiltrated a lair built within the tunnels of a Mystery Dungeon within the cliffside. The moonlight casts a glow upon the sea of trees below. On top of one of the cliffs within the area, lay a trap door, resting peacefully until a few knocks bashed on the wooden door.
A band erupted within, sending chips of busted wood around the dirt and rocks around the now-busted floor door. An Inteleon head pops out from the open, gazing around before giving out a "Clear" and climbing out with his fellow spy partner peeking up next.
"About time we made our way out of that mess. We've got to get back, tell them everything." This much was clear as the Latios hovered out of the hole, taking note of where the Dungeon had spat them out as an escape exit.
"We can't just leave." The Inteleon adds back, looking over the cliff side and looking at the long distance of the never-ending jungle. "There is more that can be uncovered within...But you make a point. If we're gonna put an end to this, the Guild needs to be informed of what they're planning. You can get back easily."
The Latios eyes watch on, picking up on the plan working within the others thoughts. "Intel, you're not suggesting I leave you here on your own?"
"Do you have any other option? It would be foolish for us both to leave, and you can get back and spread the news days faster at your limit. Riding on your back, I would slow you down." Agent Intel looks back at the hovering Legendary, who still looked like he was about to argue back. "I'll be okay, I've dealt with worse in a hostile environment. I'll do some more snooping, send a message out and by the time you and the others receive my message, we'll have a plan to put an end to this. Don't forget, Taru. I've been in this spy job longer than you have. I've got this."
Taru held back his tongue, his eyes not leaving the Inteleon as his mind raced with other options to take. But once again, Intel knew what they were doing. But that didn't mean he wanted to leave his Spy partner behind. The one that helped him settle into the Guild's Spy Division, the one that pushed him with the confidence to join and do more with his life. It hurt, but the Latios knew that Intel was right. "You promise you'll be okay?"
"Have I lied to you yet?" The Water Type argued back with that little flash of a smile on their lips.
With a heavy sigh, Taru floated up and gave them a nuzzle. "Okay, just be careful." With that, the Latios took off in a gust of wind. Soaring up into the night sky to get above cloud level above the forest. His goal now is to get back to home base as fast as he can. Feeling the wind hit his face, his body adjusted to build up his jet-like speed. He had to get back! Warn them of the danger to come! If not, then many innocent Pokémon could be caught up in the crossfire!
Then it happened. Taru didn't even hit the clouds before a strike of pain hit his chest. Unable to fully process what just happened, Taru adjusted his right arm from his "jet position" to reach for the pain. Something hit him hard, a Pokémon attack? From this height and speed? From a quick glance, it didn't look like any Pokémon had followed him. It felt like he had been sniped. Panic rushed through him as his body drifted, losing his power and strength to focus on flying. There's no way. It couldn't have been.
Taru didn't even get a chance to look back at the cliff he had taken off from, the Inteleon like a speck in the distance as he tumbled down headfirst. Falling from a great height before crashing into the bed of branches, leaves and then the dirt floor. One thought left on his mind before fully passing out.
Why, Intel?
