Knuckles burrows underground to catch his intruder off guard. Instead of a stealing bat, meet a wild cat named Carol Tea. Carol barely dodges Knuckles' attack. Without any words, the two started fighting. At first, Knuckles was only fighting her to protect the Master Emerald, but he started having fun because he saw Carol as a great fighter.
After their brawl, Knuckles and Carol are lying in front of the altar, all bruised up.
Knuckles: Had enough?
Carol: I was going to say that to you.
Knuckles: You're not going to get it.
Carol: Get wait?
Knuckles: Your serious right?
Carol: I don't know where I am right now.
Knuckles: Then how did you get here?
Carol: Boat.
Knuckles: Ok. Another question.
After they talk for a while, Knuckles gives Carol some warp rings so she can go.
Carol: That Knuckles guy is strong. I can wait until our rematch... He never said what is he guard.
Thus Carol and Knuckles are now sparring parthers.
