I wanted to make a piece with Neville and his bubbly half sister Nellie after the time skip, where Nevs is in his 40s and Nel’s in her early 20s, working as TV presenter, showing off her trademark smile at the camera.
As you can see, both pda and being recorded by camera making Neville feel rather uneasy.

By the way, it’s still rather tricky to make him look somewhat older yet not too old. I hope giving him a bit smaller eyes and a ’mustache’ (which are actually his rictal bristles) does the trick.

Also, I need to create more characters of the same species to develop my character design skills. This way it’s easier to see what makes each character visually unique. For one thing: in this case, Neville’s supposed to be average-heighted for a nightjar, and he has a stocky body, at this age leaning more towards the muscular side. While Nellie’s rather short and full-figured. I find it rather fun yet challenging to give different enough body shapes and facial structure for birds, especially for nightjars, and at the the same time make sure they still look like they belong to the same species.
