Kyurem dealt a lot of damage in the Scorching Desert, dealing wounds that may never fully heal. If that scalchop didn't take a significant portion of the damage, cracking in the process, he might've really been done for. The most consequential of that attack was a half-ripped tail. He can't swim at his fullest, but is tries to make up for it with his swordsmanship.
