Lapis was looking to renovate her home to improve her streams.
She got a little too ambitious and things fell apart with her at the center of it.
Lapis watched with eager anticipation as the installation crew finished adding the lights to her ceiling that she had requested. In the corners of the room were more men adding speakers to the walls and ceiling as well. Cables were being run through the walls and under the floors to give power to all these new devices being put up.
All of this was done to improve the quality of her streams that Lapis often hosted in her living room. The thought of using these new toys was overwhelming and Lapis couldn't stop herself from interrupting the crew at work to make a quest. As Lapis spoke up, the whole crew let out an exhausted sigh and rolled their eyes.
"Hey! Sorry to bother you again, but I was wondering if I could make another small request." Lapis said, talking to a man installing one of the speakers.
"Listen, lady, you've already made over a dozen requests for things to be added." The worker replied, "We've already installed three times the lights you originally wanted, twice the number of speakers, and we're running out of cables to power all these things."
"I know I've been asking for a lot, but this one is really important!" Lapis explained, "I just want one more speaker to be put up in the middle of the room, right above where I host my challenges."
"I'm afraid that's one request we can't do," The man said, looking at the spot Lapis was pointing to. "We've already run out of support beams to attach anything else to."
Lapis dismissively waved her hand, insisting that they'll figure it out. She was paying them for all they were doing, anyways, so they should be more than willing to accommodate her. The workers all looked at each other and shrugged, knowing there was no arguing with Lapis.
A bunch of men brought out the last speaker they had with them and carried it up the ladder to the spot Lapis wanted it. The speaker was held in place as it was screwed into the ceiling. Once finished, the men climbed down the ladder and stepped away. Surprisingly, the speaker remained in place and seemed to hold just fine.
Lapis excited ran up to the speaker and clapped her hands. She was so happy to have this installed that she grabbed the remote and turned it on to test the center-piece to her living room. As soon as the speaker sprung to life, it started blasting music which caused the whole house to shake, resulting in the speaker coming loose from the ceiling and landing directly on Lapis.
The young streamer disappeared beneath the large speaker with barely a yelp. The workers stared in shock at the speaker resting on the floor, seeming totally inconspicuous save for the large toes poking out from beneath it. The toes fanned out in every direction, twitching and grasping at nothing as their owner's body had just been crushed completely.
The workers lifted the speaker off of Lapis revealing her now squashed body. Her head had been pushed into the top of her torso and flattened into a pancake. Her arms were pinned beneath the folds of her body. The only part of her body still recognizable were Lapis' large feet poking out from beneath her. She looked like a deflated goomba.
With her mouth buried inside her own body, Lapis could only communicate with muted groans of pain as her body adjusted to being flattened. The only movements she made for several minutes were her toes twitching. Eventually, her body settled and Lapis tried moving. The only part of her body Lapis could move was her feet which she used to waddle across the floor.
The installation workers took one good look at Lapis, shrugged, and left. They did their job and would send the bill in the mail.
Lapis waddled across the floor, from carpet to hardwood, trying to find someone to help. Lapis lost access to all her senses with her head squashed. The only thing she could feel was whatever her feet touched. She felt around the house, looking for a phone or a door, but everything was out of reach.
Lapis was stuck silently waddling around her house until Miles got home...
Hopefully he didn't decide to extend the length of his trip across the country...
