("consorted" means they spent time together, while "consulted" means he discussed something with him.) "see out" should be "seek out", I think. "lead" should be "led", or maybe use the subjunctive mood, and write "would lead" instead. ("lead" is present tense, while "led" is past tense of the verb "to lead". Not to be confused with the metal lead (latin: plumbum), which is pronouned the same as "led".)
