L: I, a Pokemon trainer, have been preparing some of my Pokemon for a fight through a water type gym, and it's been going well so far, with me already having gotten 5 of them ready for it without much issue. The sixth one though, the one I know will be the most important part of the team for the upcoming battles, I remember as being aquaphobic... But, without any other option, I call them out to tell them what we need to do, hoping it at least won't be too tough to prepare them.
S: the pokemon that comes out was a powerful skeledirge, it has no clue about the water type gym, and instead gets into a fighting position, yes fire is weak to water, but you have one move your skeledirge knows that guarantees to work, even on water types, most skeledirge in today's universe believe it or not like the water and is perfectly fine with it, but not this one
"Alright!!! I'm ready! Who's ready for a beat down!? Huh?! Huh?!?!"
L: "Hey, relax, relax, we're not fighting something right now." I pat the skeledirge's back to calm them down. "But, you're not going to like what we're actually going to be doing..."
S: "Huh?" the skeledirge tilts it's head to the side in confusion
"What do you mean I won't like what we're doing? Your talking to a skeledirge, I can handle anything!"
in the back of his mind he knew there was one thing he couldn't handle, but he just hoped it wasn't that
L: I sigh a little at that. "This is the one exception... I'm going to be taking on a water type gym, and I know you're pretty good at fighting water types, so... I'm going to need you on the team for that."
S: "What?!" the skeledirge's face turns to fear as they heard that
"Oh no...not water! Anything but water!"
and little does he know, he'll have to go underwater at some point
L: "Yeah, I know, you're going to hate this... But we need to get you feeling at least a little better about being underwater, just in case it happens. We can't have you panicking during a battle."
S: "Underwater?? What the heck are you talking about it? It's a water gym, not an underwater gym, I don't think it requires me to submerge, at least I hope not..."
L: "I don't think you'll HAVE to go underwater, but there'll be water around, and it might still end up happening. It won't be that bad, you'll see. I've already convinced 5 of the others."
S: "Ugh, I really hope I don't have to go underwater, that'll just really suck... I still don't know tho..."
L: "Have you ever even gone underwater at all? I don't think you have. What if you end up liking it? I wasn't sure about diving when I was young, but the first time I did it I loved it, so maybe it'll be the same for you?"
S: "Love it?!?! No, there's no way I'm gonna like being somewhere where I can't breathe normally, I've never experienced it and I don't really wanna start that now!"
L: "You have to at least try! I don't know if I'll be able to clear that gym without your help!"
S: "Ughhh...I don't wanna!!! What's in it for me huh? Cause I'm not moving!"
L: "Um... I can go get some extras of those treats you really like? And I'll let you take it easy for a while, too. But only after we're done with that gym!"
S: "Treats???" the skeledirge's tail wags at the prospect of treats
"Ugh, you know treats are my weakness!"
L: "There'll be a lot of those in it for you once this is all over with... Way more than normal!" I smile, knowing I'm getting closer to convincing the skeledirge.
S: "Ohhh mama...." his mouth drools as he thinks about getting all those delicious treats
"Ugh...fine! I'll try it this one time then!"
L: "Ha, I figured that'd do it! Come on, the pool's not far, we can get this over with quick and then take on that gym." I start leading the way to the pool.
S: the skeledirge rolls his eyes and then follows you to the pool
L: We get to the pool before too long, and I get into the water at the shallow end. "We'll definitely start with just getting you used to being in water in general, like this."
S: "Uhhh...uhhhhh...." the skeledirge was very much afraid, and he backs up all the way to stay away from the water
L: "Come on, it's gonna be fine! Might end up being a little bit cold for you, but for now that'll be all you have to worry about!"
S: "No way! The water is so scary! It looks like it's gonna consume me whole!! I'm not going near it!"
L: "I'm pretty sure you'll be able to stand up in this just fine, just maybe with tilting your head back a bit. I'll be right next to you the whole time, and I'll help you get out if something happens."
S: "No! You know what the treats isn't worth it anymore! I'm not going in!" the skeledirge cowers in fear
L: I get out of the water, going up next to the skeledirge. "I know you can do this, buddy... We'll take it as slow as you need to, okay?" I start petting them.
S: the skeledirge shakes with fear, but he does lean into your pets, having one other thing that he really likes besides treats, petting
"I-i don't know if i can...."
L: "You can, you've got this! You've been through worse than this in battles before, this is nothing!"
S: "But you know I'm a aquaphobic! It's the one thing I can't handle! The battles are nothing, not this!"
L: "...Maybe you could try just splashing the water some from up here first? That might help ease you into this a little more."
S: "I don't even think that'll help, but I know I've got no other option, so fine..."
L: "If nothing else, it'll probably at least be a little fun." I go over to the edge of the pool and sit down, kicking my legs in the water.
S: the skeledirge slowly approaches the pool, whimpering in fear at the water that's splashed around around your feet
L: "It's alright, the only time water's ever hurt you before was when it was being sent at you from a move. When it's just sitting around like this, it's perfectly safe."
S: the skeledirge then manages to dip a foot into the water, yelping with fear as he did, but he was able to handle that
L: "See? It's not gonna hurt you this way, you've got nothing to be afraid of."
S: "I-i-i suppose its not bad like this, but I don't think I can get in any more then just my foot!"
L: "You'll have to at some point... But we can stay like this for a while, so you can get used to it."
S: the skeledirge whines at that, it took a long time but eventually he got the courage to get his whole body in the very shallow water, able to stay on the surface
"Oh j-j-jeez!! I don't like this at all! But...at least I'm doing it..."
L: "Yeah, this is still a lot better than when we started!" I get back in the water too, staying next to the skeledirge.
S: the skeledirge was able to stay calm enough on the surface of the water, but unfortunately he'll have to learn how to submerge as it pertains to this water gym
L: After a while, I decide it's time for the next step. "Okay, as much as you'll hate it, we should try getting you to go underwater now..."
S: "What?!?! No!! No no no!!! Anything but that! No!" he quickly scurries out of the pool and back to his hiding spot
L: "Come on, Skeledirge, we have to do this!" I follow them to their spot. "We might not be able to beat that gym without you!"
S: "Look, there's no way on the face of this planet that I'm going underwater!! I'm not about to go somewhere where I can't breathe normally! No way!"
L: "There's just nothing I can do about that, we have to do this anyway! Or you're not getting any treats at all until I decide otherwise!"
S: the skeledirge gasps in shock at that
"Whaa??? No treats?!" then he tears up
"Ugh!!! No...I still can't do it! I'm sorry!"
L: "Well, you're just going to have to accept going without treats for a while then... While I try to figure out who to bring instead..."
S: the skeledirge whimpers sadly then goes into a full on meltdown, crying heavily...he's very upset but all this and it's clear he wants to be brave and do this with you, and normally skeledirges don't do this, but this one does
L: While I'd been going to get out of the pool, seeing the skeledirge crying makes me pause... I go over and give them a hug. "It's gonna be okay... I don't think any less of you for this, alright? I know fire types just hate water..."
S: the skeledirge was very sad, but he hugs you back
"I'm sorry...I really am... I'm supposed to be tough and I'm not doing that... I don't want to be banned from treats for a while... as much as it's gonna freak me out, I have to try submerging...."
L: I smile a little at the skeledirge finally being wiling to try. "There you go... Let's do the first in shallow water so you don't have to worry about going deep for now, okay?"
S: "F-fine..." the skeledirge still had tears, but was at least calming down a little
L: "Let's get back into the shallow end, and from there you should be able to go just about fully under by laying down. I'll go underwater with you, don't worry."
S: "Ok..." the skeledirge then gets into the water
"But...won't I drown right away if I go under?"
L: "That's why you're so scared, isn't it? Man, if you'd just said that earlier... Anyway, as long as you hold your breath, you'll be fine."
S: "Hold my breath? What do you mean by that?? Isn't that like not breathing in for a while? If so, that sounds scary..."
L: "It's not that bad as long as you don't go very long like that. You just have to make sure you'll easily be able to get air once you start getting really uncomfortable."
S: the skeledirge sighs
"Guess I have to try it then... oh boy..."
L: "I'll give you about... 10 minutes, to go under on your own. After that, we'll try going with a countdown instead."
S: "Fine..."
the skeledirge tries to submerge on his own, but after the 10 minutes was up, he couldn't do it
L: "...Alright, we're going to be here all day at this rate. Let's try that countdown thing I mentioned, that should work better."
S: "Sorry, I tried...I just couldn't do it, this is very hard! We'll try the countdown then"
L: "I think I know how this is going to go, but let's try anyway... 3, 2, 1..." I hold my breath and duck underwater.
S: and of course, the skeledirge didn't go under, he was deathly scared
L: I surface a couple seconds later. "Yeah, figured... I really don't know what else I can do at this point..." I pet the skeledirge some again.
S: the pets do seem to help the skeledirge relax, but it's not quite enough
"Maybe your other pokemon friends can cheer me on? Cheering always helps me do my best in battles after all"
L: "Right, we could definitely try that! And I bet your ampharos friend would be perfect, especially since he'll be on the team for that gym! I can go get their Pokeball, if you want."
S: "Ampharos!! Yeah yeah yeah!! Bring him! He's my only hope! Go!" the skeledirge's tail wags a little at the prospect of seeing his good friend again
L: "Okay, I'll be right back!" I get out of the pool and run off. A couple minutes later, I return with a Pokeball, and call out Ampharos.
Ampharos: "Alright, what's up this time? Oh, hi Skeledirge! Wow, I... Didn't expect to ever see you in water like that!"
S: the skeledirge smiles warmly at ampharos when he sees them, then blushes a bit
"I-i know ampharos... I don't got a choice this time...I could really use your help! I'm trying to submerge underwater for the first time and I need some encouragement and cheers from you!"
L: Ampharos: "Yeah, I'll totally help you out with this!" He gets into the pool and gives the skeledirge a hug
I get back into the water as well. "I really hope this ends up making the difference."
S: "Yeah" the skeledirge hugs his ampharos friend back
"Ok...having another friend with me might help me this time, I'm ready, for reals..."
L: Me: "Right, let's try this again. 3, 2, 1..." I go back underwater, and Ampharos does as well.
S: the skeledirge looks around briefly, whimpering...but eventually he takes a big breath in and holds it, covering his mouth as he finally ducks underwater with you and ampharos!
L: Ampharos and I both smile at the skeledirge, and Ampharos hugs them while I pet them.
S: the skeledirge tries to stay calm about this, but it's really hard for him to do so, he whimpers out a lot of bubbles even with mouth covered, it's clear he's not enjoying this at all
L: Despite that, I'm still pretty happy he's even willingly gone underwater at all, and I gesture for him to surface as I and Ampharos go back up.
S: the skeledirge goes up as well, gasping heavily for breath
"Hah...hah...hah, oh I did NOT enjoy that at all!"
L: Ampharos: "But at least you did it at all! Great job!"
Me: "That'll definitely be enough for if someone knocks you into water, it's not like you'd be able to fight well down there. You'd want to get right back up regardless."
S: "Y-yeah... I'm not gonna be able to fight underwater at all... I just hope that won't be the case..."
but of course, little does he know, nothing in this world is easy and he'll have to fight underwater regardless
L: Me: "You should still try regardless, because we don't know that it'll never end up happening. Just use a few moves underwater to get a feel for it."
Ampharos: "Right, yeah... I'm sure it'll all end up being fine, okay?"
S: "No, I don't wanna go back down there! I did it once, I don't wanna do it again, let's just go get this on already, maybe the match won't be underwater and I won't have to worry about it"
L: Me: "What if it is? You won't be ready for it!"
Ampharos: "And it probably will be, too! Come on, at least give it a try!"
S: "Don't say that Ampharos! I don't want it to be underwater! No is my final answer now let's go!"
L: Me: "We're not going anywhere until you've at least tried to use ONE move underwater. I don't want us to end up losing because you refuse to fight underwater."
Ampharos: "It'll be easy once you're down there!"
S: "Ughhh!! Your really making this complicated for me aren't you... I swear if we aren't fighting underwater at all, your gonna hear it from me! But fine, I'll use my one move then..."
L: Me: "Just the one, then we'll be done with practice. If you don't end up needing to fight underwater, that's on me."
S: "Fine fine, let's get this over with...I'm gonna truly hate myself for doing this again"
deciding to get it over with, the skeledirge holds its breath again and dives back underwater, whimpering in fear as he did and covering his mouth again
L: Ampharos and I both go back underwater as well, watching the skeledirge to make sure they actually do a move.
S: after a bit of hesitation, the skeledirge eventually does a move underwater, its a bit on the weaker side because he's covering his mouth and holding his breath, but its enough to satisfy, he goes back to the surface and gasps for breath
"There, happy?"
L: Ampharos and I surface again.
Me: "Yep, that'll work! Sorry I've been putting you through all this, hopefully this'll be the end of it."
Ampharos: "I guess we're ready to take on that gym now, huh?"
S: "It's fine, and yeah let's take down this gym already, I'll be worth it once I can scarf down my delicious treats afterwards..."
L: Me: "Alright, I'll gather up the rest of the team and we'll get going." I get out of the pool to go get the other 4 Pokeballs.
Ampharos: "Let's hope it goes well..."
S: the skeledirge gets out of the pool too
"Me too, and I'm just gonna hope that our trainer doesn't bring me out in case this is an underwater battle, which i doubt it honestly"
L: Ampharos leaves the water as well. "Yeah, I've never heard of even water type gyms doing that, we should be fine."
I get back not long after, with 4 other Pokeballs in addition to the ones for Ampharos and the skeledirge. "Alright, we're ready. Do you two want to stay out of your balls for now, or no?"
S: "I'm fine with staying out for now, if ampharos will stay out then I will too, I wanna stay with him throughout this battle, he's my best friend after all, and best buds stick together!"
L: Ampharos: "Alright, I'll stay out too. Ready to go!"
Me: "Right! Let's see what that gym is all about..." I start leading the way there.
S: the skeledirge follows behind as does ampharos, the skeledirge was pretty nervous deep down, and just hopes this whole gym battle won't be too hard on him, and more the reason he hopes it won't be underwater
L: We all get there fairly soon, finding that the gym is right next to a lake.
Me: "Hm... That'll probably be where they get their water from..."
Ampharos: "Hopefully they won't have TOO much in there..."
S: "Mama mia...well I guess we better find out then...as much as I don't want too..."
L: We head into the gym, and, unfortunately, it does look like there's some underwater parts to it...
I sigh. "I guess we'll have to do this after all..."
Ampharos: "Well, it's good that we prepared, right?"
S: "Awww...COME ON!!!! I was hoping there weren't going to be underwater parts!! Great just great, why cant we just skip this and go challenge the gym leader already, ugh" the skeledirge rolls his eyes
L: Me: "I know, it's annoying, so many gyms have some weird thing you have to do to get through them... It's gonna be okay though, you've seen that being underwater isn't horrible!"
Ampharos: "And I'll make sure to stay right next to you the whole time, don't worry!"
S: the skeledirge whimpers, getting scared again, but remembering there's treats at the end, he puts on a brave face for now, and just prays that the real fight won't happen underwater, he then holds ampharos' hand, shaking a bit
"Ok, as long as I have you, then I can do this... just, let me hold your hand the whole time...please??"
L: Ampharos smiles at the skeledirge. "No problem, we can get through this together."
I start getting into the water. "Ready whenever you two are."
S: the skeledirge takes a breath to calm himself down, letting it out slowly
"Ok Ampharos...let's do this..."
L: Ampharos: "Let's hope this'll be the last time... 3, 2, 1!" He dives into the water.
S: the skeledirge holds his breath and let's himself be pulled into the water by ampharos, he whines again and uses his free front leg to cover his mouth again, already looking ahead and wanting to get this over with
L: I dive down to join the two, and gesture to follow as I start swimming along. Ampharos starts swimming, hoping he's not going to have to keep pulling the skeledirge.
S: but since the skeledirge was never taught how to actually swim, he has to get pulled along, and plus he's too focused on holding his breath to do anything else right now, already getting a slightly red face because of how bad he is at this
L: Ampharos tries to hurry along, seeing how bad the skeledirge is already doing. I happen to notice as well, and swim back to them to help pull them forward.
S: the skeledirge whimpers out bubbles as he tries to keep his air in, and hope it won't be too far until they reach the gym leader
L: Thankfully, before a whole lot longer, they do seem to get there... And, most of the large room is underwater, at least with air pockets at the ceiling.
I resist the urge to sigh as Ampharos and I look around for the leader while bringing the skeledirge toward the nearest air pocket.
S: the skeledirge gasps in the air pocket once they get there and tries to reach for his pokeball to go back in
"Let me in! Let me in! I can tell this battle is gonna be underwater and I want no part of it!"
L: Me: "I can let you back in if you want, but I can't promise you won't have to get involved!"
Ampharos: "At least stay out for now, so you'll know what you'll be up against if you have to join in!"
S: "Ugh, I know ampharos is gonna stay out... and I don't wanna see my buddy getting hurt, fine...I'll stay out then, now where's this gym leader"
speaking of them, they actually surface in the air pocket with the trio, they are a light blue looking lizard creature and they smirk at you
Gym Leader - "Ahem! I'm waiting for you to come and battle me! Unless, your a little scared of water! Hahaha!"
Skeledirge - "Excuse me?! Do not talk to my trainer like that!"
L: Me: "I'm not scared, I'm ready to get started whenever! It's just that my skeledirge doesn't do all that well in water."
Ampharos: "If anyone should be scared here, it's you, lizard guy..." He glares at the leader.
S: Gym Leader - "Ha! I don't get scared that easily! I'll take a lot more then a simple glare to scare me! Your skeledirge is definitely a chicken for being this afraid of the water! Or maybe it's you that's scared of being underwater! This whole fight is gonna be fully submerged, so I hope you and your pokemon got a good breath hold time"
Skeledirge- "Hey!!!!" he glares at the leader as well, angrily
L: Me: "Don't worry, we're all pretty good at it. Come on, skeledirge, how about we prove you can handle this no problem?"
Ampharos: "Yeah, you've got this!"
S: "B-b-but...water..." the skeledirge looks down at the water below with fear
the leader laughs
Gym Leader - "Hahaha!!! I don't think your skeledirge can last more then one minute underwater without feeling the need to breathe! This battle is gonna be easy!"
L: Me: "Don't just let him tease you, buddy! Show him that his water types don't stand a chance against you!"
Ampharos: "Get back at him for putting you through all this!"
S: Skeledirge - "...but he's not wrong...I don't think i can handle being underwater for more then a minute..."
Gym Leader - "Hahaha! What a chicken!!! He doesn't stand a chance fighting againest my pokemon! He'll probably get one shotted down there! Ha!"
the Skeledirge whimpers at the gym leader's taunts, unable to taunt back with how true his words are
L: I whisper to the skeledirge, "You might not need to be underwater that long, you've got that one move, remember?"
S: the skeledirge whispers back
Skeledirge- "Yeah, but what if that move runs out? Then what am I gonna do? And I can't hold my breath that long..."
the leader keeps laughing
L: Me: "Right, yeah..." I look over at the gym leader again. "Look, as much as he doesn't like water, he's still gonna kick your butt! He's way better against water types than you're thinking!"
S: Gym Leader - "Hahahaha!!! Your hilarious! There's no way a fire type like him can kick my water type's butt!"
the skeledirge growls at the leader, now starting to get properly angry
L: Me: "Skeledirge, you can prove him wrong if you go down there! There's more air pockets, you can come back up and breathe whenever you need to!"
Ampharos: "Show him who the real boss here is!"
S: Gym Leader - "Oh I didn't tell you didn't I? It's not gonna be that easy, you see...I'm closing up all the air pockets as soon as we get started, so the only air you and your pokemon will have, is in their lungs! Hahaha! But I can easily last an hour thanks to training, so I'll be fine! Hahaha! Your playing my rules!"
Skeledirge- "WHAT!?!?!? Oh no...." the skeledirge goes back to being scared once again
L: Me: "Oh, come on, even I think that's going too far!"
Ampharos: "How can you expect people to be able to hold their breath long enough!?"
S: Gym Leader - "That's their problem not mine, besides nobody dies, as soon as they drown I get their bodies out and recover them, sure it's annoying but I can't just leave them in there"
Skeledirge - "Now I know for sure I'm not gonna be able to do this!!"
L: Me: "Ugh, we already went through so much training... Fine, I'm still gonna try. At this rate though, it doesn't look like I'll be having Skeledirge for this..."
S: "What?! I'm not gonna get to fight??? All that for nothing? No! Ugh!!! Let's just have me as a last resort then...o-ok? But you still owe me so many treats!"
L: Me: "I'm not saying you can't join in on this, I just mean you're going to hate it! You can still fight if you really want to, I won't stop you."
Ampharos: "Hopefully I'll get to join you for it, that should help you stay calm..."
S: "Yeah, maybe this will be a double battle, then me and ampharos can fight side by side! And that should hopefully make me feel better about this"
Gym leader - "Well I guess your lucky at something because this is a double battle, now I'm gonna give you 5 minutes and if your not ready by then, I'm closing off the air pockets and force you to get started already, see you at the bottom, chickens!" they take a deep breath and dive underwater
L: Ampharos: "Okay, good, we've at least got something going for us. We'd better actually get ready..."
Me: "Just try your best to relax, it'll help you hold your breath longer once it's time."
S: Skeledirge - "I promise I'll try my best when it's me and ampharos' turn..."
L: Me: "Maybe we should start with you guys, to get it out of the way?"
Ampharos: "I think that might be a good idea, yeah."
S: "I just hope I don't drown, but yeah good idea I guess, we should get ready...oh man..."
Gym leader from a hidden speaker - "Yblouve gblot 2 minblutes! Hublrry ublp alblready!"
L: I glare over at the speaker. "Yeah, I know, we'll get to you! Shush!"
Ampharos gives the skeledirge one more hug in preparation. "Let's try to beat them all as fast as we can, okay?"
S: "I'm impabltient!"
the skeledirge hugs ampharos back tightly
Skeledirge- "Y-yeah, o-ok... I'm ready whenever you guys are..."
L: Me: "Time to get this over with...3, 2, 1..." Ampharos and I both take deep breaths and dive down, knowing we probably won't be going back up until this is done.
S: the skeledirge whines a bit as the two dive, he hesitates, but then the leader came on the speaker again
Gym Leader - "Ooooh! Soblmebobldy's a chicblken!!!" they make a bubbly chicken noise that really sets the skeledirge over the edge
Skeledirge - "OH THATS IT!!! I'll show you I can handle a simple dive!" he takes some deep breathes himself and dives underwater, letting himself sink since he can't swim, soon the air pockets close up as we all approach the bottom of the water filled room
L: After smiling at the skeledirge, Ampharos and I try to stay calm as we let ourselves sink too, waiting for the leader to get the battle started.
S: the gym leader smirks at us
Gym leader - "Tblook ybla lonblg enoublgh, nblow leblts gblo!"
he releases two pokemon from his pokeballs, ready to start the battle
L: Me: "Gblo geblt 'em, gublys!"
Ampharos nods, and swims forward to get started.
S: the skeledirge was covering his mouth and whining as all he's focused on is holding his breath
L: Ampharos looks back, as he realizes the skeledirge isn't coming. "Coblme obln, Ibl cabln't dblo thblis alblone!"
Remembering what motivated the skeledirge to come down here in the first place, I call out to them. "Dobln't ble chblickblen, Skblelebldirblge!"
S: Skeledirge - "Chbicblken?!"
Gym Leader - "Hbla hbla hebls a chblicken!!!"
Skeledirge - "Grrrrrr!!!! I AM NBLOT CHIBLCKEN!!" he goes forward and joins ampharos, growling away bubbles at the opposing pokemon and getting ready to fight
L: Ampharos: "Thblere wble gblo! Leblt's dblo thblis!" He prepares a move as he charges toward the leader's Pokemon.
S: "Chblaaaaaarge!!!!" the skeledirge does as well
L: The battle goes on, and more and more of the leader's Pokemon are defeated. Ampharos and I both do our best to ignore our need for air, but we've both got fully red faces by now, and we just have to hope the battle won't go on much longer. By now, the leader's on their last two Pokemon, and while Ampharos and the skeledirge have taken some hits, they're still doing fairly well.
S: the skeledirge's face is fully blue however, grunting in strain
the leader is still perfectly fine, just a tiny little blush on his face
Gym leader - "Yblou gbluys able toublgh, but yblou stblill wonblt wibln!"
L: Ampharos: "Ybl-yebls wble wibll! Yoblu dobln't hblave abl chblancble!"
Me: "Jublst abl liblttlble moblre leblft!"
S: "🎵Yblour skelediblrge is gblonna drblown!🎵"
skeledirge covers his mouth and whines as he's really low on air and needs to breathe badly, but he still glares at the leader
L: Ampharos: "Nblo hble's noblt!" He tries his best to hit one of the remaining enemy Pokemon with a move.
S: the skeledirge manages to hit them too, knocking them out, now there's only one pokemon left on the opposite team, but the skeledirge is on the verge of passing out
L: Me: "Hblang ibln thblere, Skblelebldirblge! Keblep hbloldbling iblt!"
Ampharos: "Jbl-jublst abl liblttlble loblngeblr!" He starts going for the last enemy left, as his blush starts going blue.
S: the skeledirge fights through the pain and helps ampharos take out the last enemy, and thankfully they managed just in time
Gym Trainer - "Noooooooo!!!! Ublgh! Yblou faughblt webll... yblou desevblere a breablther" he then opens the air pockets again, swimming up to one himself
L: Without saying anything, Ampharos goes straight back up toward the closest air pocket, smiling the whole way.
Me: "YEBLS, fiblnalbly!" I start quickly swimming up too.
S: Skeledirge - "Uhhh gbluys!? I cblant....swblim!!!" the Skeledirge tries to follow but fails
L: Me: "Obl-oblh, soblrry!" I quickly swim back down to carry them up, and despite how badly he needs to breathe, Ampharos helps out too.
S: the leader sees that the skeledirge is struggling, and decides to help out as well, with all 3 of them carrying them up, the skeledirge surfaces and gasps heavily for air
L: Ampharos and I both gasp as well, panting as we smile.
Ampharos: "M-man, we actually did it!"
Me: "A-and it was all... J-just you guys, too!"
S: "I-i can't believe it! I did it!"
Gym Leader - "You've got some serious guts skeledirge, your definitely no chicken that's for sure, and for beating me, you get my gym badge, congratulations" he pulls it out and hands it to you
L: I happily take the badge. "Alright, awesome! I'm definitely glad this one's over..."
Ampharos: "Yeah, another one down!"
S: Skeledirge - "Alright!!! Awesome! Now you better get those treats ready for me trainer! I deserve them!"
the gym leader giggles at that
L: Me: "Heh, yeah, I kind of had to bribe him to do this... But, for sure! I'll get them out for you when we get back, and some for Ampharos too!"
Ampharos: "Nice, thanks!"
S: "Yay! Treats!!!"
Gym Trainer - "Nothing wrong with bribes, anyways, follow me and I'll lead you out"
and so, after a successful battle, you were victorious and got the water badge, sure it was a pain but you were relieved that it was all over and you gave plenty of treats to the skeledirge and ampharos, a well earned victory
