Because Alicorns are over rated, over powered and boring! and Alicorns are so post to be Royal in some way. you can have an Alicorn but it wont be liked as much as it could, also the horn, wings or earth is something that is part of that OC's personality, like rainbowdash is a Pegasus and loves to fly, the wings are part of her personality, but if she was an Alicorn then that would not work since she does not love magic.

Secondly just because you wouldn't like my OC as much as you could doesn't mean others will not like her bunches, and lastly the not all ponies are defined by their wing/horn/earth trait. Fluttershy doesn't love to fly at first and which is the earth type personality Applejack or Pinkie Pie? As for the the alicorn being Royal, maybe she is or maybe she was lost so maybe no one knows if she is royal or not. Or any one of a hundred other possible answers.
