Little fox
Seeking shelter from the rain
Peeking your nose out from under the stairs
Are you lost?
Should I give you a name
Do you have any cheeky fox secrets to share?
Could it be?
Are you the same fox that I've seen
Digging holes in the grass,
Pouncing my trampoline?
I'm charmed by the delicate way that you walk
And the sly little giggles you make when you talk
Disarmed by the fluffy white snow of your tail
Your inquisitive ears gently sway in the gale
The cold, damp veranda, it simply won't do
Come, follow me, I've a kennel for you
I watch as you weigh up your options so wisely
Help from a human is not taken lightly
Such a twinkling intellect shines in your eyes
Like some kind of spirit in scruffy disguise
I lure you slowly with my secret weapon
The scent of the chicken strip tickles your nose
You follow along, apprehensive and scanning
You hop into the kennel on light, silent toes
And now as you rest on the warm cozy cushions
A blanket of peace gently covers us both
Little fox
Seeking shelter from the rain
Peeking your nose out
"Have you any more chicken?"
