The robot was supposed to be used as a transportation device. Something to help Tails move heavy things around the lab while he worked.
All the engineering parts of the project were sound, but there were a few errors in the robot's programming. A few minor bugs, like the robot having a hard time telling objects apart and being unresponsive to spoken commands, has led to one major issue for Tails.
Something went wrong when Tails asked the robot to remove his bed sheets one morning. Instead of pulling off his blankets, the mechanical monster went straight for its creator, grabbing Tails and pulling him straight out of bed. The robot then flew right out Tails' window and off into the morning sky. Tails must've added a few extra zeroes to the robot's restricting strength, because the little engineer could barely get a word out as the metal tendrils tightly wrapped around his tiny body. And no destination had been set for the robot, meaning it wouldn't stop until its batteries ran out...
