Yami and Nero are very very similar in appearance and personality and combat... so much so that Yami believes Nero might be his variant in Nero's respective universe. As a lover of combat above all else, Nero's prowess was just to exciting to ignore. Yami finding the means to evolve again while in Nero's world, challenged his rival to a battle at their highest level.
