One morning in Muttgomery, the Doxies were outside playing fetch.
Paxton: Okay, Pedro. This one is yours. Fetch.
Pedro: Got it.
Pretzel: Nice catch, Pedro.
Pedro: Thanks, dad.
Pippa: Throw it me, Pedro.
Pedro: Okay, Pippa. Here you go.
Pippa: I caught it.
Just then, Poppy came out.
Pippa: Hey, Poppy. Fetch.
But Poppy didn't try to catch it. She just let the ball hit her.
Poppy: No thanks, Pippa. Thanks anyway.
They all looked at her. She looked more sad than usual. She was even blue.
Pretzel: What's wrong, Poppy?
Puck: And how come you look so blue?
Then Greta came home.
Greta: Hi, everyone. I'm back from work.
Pretzel: Hi, Greta.
Pups: Hi, Mom.
They all gave her a big hug, except for Poppy. She just sighed.
Greta: Poppy, are you okay?
Poppy: No.
Paxton: Poppy. How did you get blue anyways?
Poppy: I guess when I got sad, I turned blue.
Pedro: Really? What made you sad?
Poppy: This cart. I miss having four paws to walk and run with.
Puck: I know what will cheer you up. A game of fetch.
Poppy became her normal color again.
Poppy: I guess so.
Puck: Okay. Fetch.
Poppy: I got it. I got it.
But Poppy just tripped and fell, and missed the ball.
Poppy: (groans) You see what I'm talking about? I was right.
Paxton: What do you mean?
Poppy: This cart. I was right about it. It does make it hard for me to do stuff.
She became blue again and cried and ran into the house.
Puck: Poppy, wait.
Poppy already went inside. She cried into her bed. The rest of the family went to see her.
Pippa: Poppy. There you are.
Pedro: Are you okay?
Poppy: No.
Pretzel: It's okay. How about a nice hug.
Poppy hug Pretzel to calm down.
Greta: Feel better?
Poppy: A little bit. I like this cart. But I miss my back paws. I probably never got to use them because I probably had paralysis.
Puck: Paralysis?
Greta: When you have paralysis, that means you can't move.
Puck: Oh.
Poppy: Yeah.
Pedro: At least your cart helps go faster.
Poppy: True. That's why I'm blue.
Puck: Hey. You rhymed.
Poppy: You know what, I'll give it my first try.
Pretzel: Go for it, Poppy.
Paxton: Yeah.
So Poppy unstrapped herself from the wheelchair and stepped her back paws out. But she fell.
All: Aww man.
But Poppy wasn't giving up. She got up again and put all her back into it. At last, she was up.
Poppy: I did it. I'm standing on all fours.
Pippa: Whoo-hoo.
Greta: Nice work, Poppy.
Paxton: Since you're on all fours, you feel like playing fetch.
Poppy: Yeah. Puptastic.
Greta: Fetch, Poppy.
Poppy jumped and caught the ball.
Poppy: (howls) I can play fetch. I wonder what other things I can do with all my paws.
Pretzel: Maybe tomorrow, we can show everyone in Muttgomery.
Poppy: Okay.
The pups all climbed in bed. But Poppy couldn't sleep. She was excited to show that she can walk again. But it felt different without her wheelchair. That morning, the pups woke up. But Poppy was still sleeping. But then woke up.
Poppy: (yawns)
Paxton: Good morning, Poppy.
Poppy: Good morning.
They all went down for breakfast. Poppy was still a little tired.
Pretzel and Greta: Morning, pups.
Pups: Good morning, Mom. Good morning, Dad.
Puck: Ooh. Breakfast.
As soon as they were done, Greta went to work.
Greta: See you after work.
Pups: Bye, mom.
Pretzel: So pups, what should we do today?
Pippa: I know, let's go show our friends Poppy's legs at the park.
Pups: Yeah.
Poppy: Yeah.
Pretzel: Well hop on.
Poppy: Wait there only room for four pups. I guess I'll have to walk.
Puck: No. Here. Take my spot.
Poppy and Puck swapped.
Poppy: This feels good.
Pretzel: Well hang on.
They arrived at the park. There friends Sammy, Dill, Delilah, Russell, Rosie, Curly, Beau, and Sophie were there playing.
Sammy: Oh. Hi, Doxies.
Doxies: Hi, guys.
Pedro: Guess what, Poppy can walk.
Dill: Of course she can walk.
Paxton: No. Pedro means that Poppy can walk on all four paws.
Poppy: Yep. It's true. See.
Their friends were surprised.
Sophie: Wow. Congrats, Poppy.
Russell: Way to go.
Poppy: Thank you.
Rosie: Hey, do you want to play fetch, since you're better.
Poppy: Yeah.
Pretzel: Here you go, pups. I'll be right here the parents if you need anything.
Pups: Okay.
Delilah: Come on.
(pups howling)
They went off to play. Everyone saw that was out of her wheelchair.
Sophie: Russell. Fetch.
Russell: Got it. Okay, Beau. Here you go.
Beau: Got it. Go long, Pippa.
Pippa: Caught it. Ta-dog. Delilah, here.
Delilah: Thanks, Pippa. Okay, Poppy. This one is yours.
Poppy: I caught it. (howls)
Every dog saw Poppy playing without her wheelchair. They were all happy. The City Council dogs heard the commotion.
Mr. Bernard: My. Poppy's is doing good with her legs.
Mr. Shaggs: You go, Poppy.
Greta: That's my pup.
Ms. Clawtez: She's pawsome.
Chief McSpotz: She's a natural.
Ms. Pupperpost: Well hot dog.
Mr. Barkbinder: Amazing.
Poppy: This is fun.
But Poppy was starting to miss her cart and turned blue again.
Sammy: Poppy, is everything okay?
Poppy: This is fun with four paws, but I miss my cart.
Then they heard a dog yelling. It was Rufus. They saw him fly by with his skateboard. He was going out of control.
Curly: Oh no.
Beau: Rufus needs help.
Paxton: We got to help him. But how?
Poppy: I know. I'll use my cart. Like you said, at least it helps me go faster.
So Poppy strapped herself back in her cart and rushed after Rufus.
Rufus: Help. Whoa.
Poppy: I'm coming, Rufus. Just a little closer.
Finally she grabbed held of Rufus and his skateboard.
Poppy: Gotcha.
Then pushed on the ground hard. They both slowed down and came to a stop.
Rufus: (sighs) Whoo. Thanks, Poppy. Without you, I would still be rolling out of control.
Poppy: Happy to help, Rufus.
Everyone cheered and howled for Poppy.
Poppy: What's going on?
Flora: You saved Rufus.
Nana Doxie: That was pawsome.
Pedro: Well done, Poppy.
Pretzel: You did it.
Delilah: Amazing.
Curly: That was coolest thing you did.
Ms. Clawtez: That was so brave.
Mr. Kibble: Yeah. You're a hero.
All: Yeah. (howls)
Poppy: Thank you. I was just doing right thing. I was sad at first, but I can finally walk with four paws. But I kinda miss my cart. (howls)
