Back in 2000, The PlayStation 2 was launched on March 4. March 4, 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the PlayStation 2. More than five years after the PlayStation 1 was launched, The PlayStation 2 is preceded by the PlayStation 1 and succeeded by the PlayStation 3. The original version debuted in early 2000 in Japan. Seven months later, the PlayStation 2 was launched in North America. The PlayStation 2 Slim was launched four years later, it has sold more than 160 million units worldwide before being retired in 2013, making it the best-selling console of all time right before the Nintendo Switch.
