Best stories are of course, as of currently, the unbeatable Desmond stories. They're the games where I actually cared about the whole Animus thing. Whereas in the other games, I just groan whenever they pull me away from the 'past'. Best gameplay, I'm glad to say that this isn't controversial anymore, but Unity has the best gameplay for its incredibly fluent and robust parkour system since that's what these games are known for and is about. Not to mention, it's still the best looking AC game overall!

ive played most of the AC games. parts of it i love and parts of it I despite utterly. all of them have minor issues of ..slipup to cheating (foes seeing you through walls, etc) but for me its more the politcal slant, which after... Paris game (unity?) became worse and then waaay worse with Origins onward with Charaters and racism/sexism.
liked the first two games in the Eztio trilogy - AC2 and brothedhood, but loved most of Black Flag save for the one or two of That blasted mission and a few of the aa'd charcaters.
will NOT play 'shadows' ever, as its a aa ripoff of Ghost of Tsushima with added black guy for even more aa pc BS
