lol seeing some of those bids just make me sick. I bust my butt at work and make decent pay, but no way could I afford what some of those people are willing to spend on artwork. Some of the more popular artist have ridiculous prices too, I have seen on on FA with a pretty decent piece of work involving two k-9 characters. All said artist is offering is recolor at about $80 a piece.

Oh dear those pre-posed peices that people fight about, even when finished aren't even woth the jacked up price, I'd prefer the flat price pre poses because it is usually just 5-10($, €, £, ¥) {depending on the the amount of characters and dificulty of said character the commissioner desires drawn} but yes the ever spamming of the those TCBY or YCH is annoying...

All three should be tossed.

Take it from a guy who's been drawing for years and been paid for it before now (although not for furry art yet), you're absolutely right.

Paying constantly is bollocks for video games (WOW) so it's not going to work for a drawing, no matter how good you are.

Slave stream is just demeaning to the artist, and 'your character here' auctions is just a way of getting people to buy a drawing before it's finished. I'm sure neither you nor Tamati fox would buy a half finished story commission that I started for somebody else, so why should art be any different?

Fair? Pay by hour?
Okay.

that way for example if ya pay for 2 hour stream, you can choose between haivng 1 epicly drawn picture or several seketches, just example.

it's risky, I wouldent do it with anybody eho isent extreamly consistent and efficient with there time BUT if you find sombody who IS it's cheaper for you and takes less time for the artist. Win win.

Wait... From all of my experiences pay by hour and slavestreams have all been the same...

YCH is by FAR the most fair of the three.  It is most fair for the skilled producer of goods (aka, the artist), plus it gives the consumers 3-7 days to gather the funds to pay what the art is worth.

A better artistic solution is just plain auctions with no pre-pose; however they are less tangible and therefore less popular among consumers.

Personal Opinion...
1: Auctions in general i steer clear of...why? because you can only win those if you are willing to spend 200+ dollars on a comission...and i'm sorry i'm not willing to pay that much for a drawing no matter the quality...

2: Prepose: lacks my imagination in some cases, in others its alright because can give you an idea on a pose before hand... i dun mind preposes, as long as its a set price and not an auction.

3: Pay by the hour: depends on how much you are asking per hour, it could be reasonable, could end up costing you an arm and a leg...though to be fair is probably one of the lesser evils. Never tried it, but sounds alright as long as work itself isn't a monsters endeavor will take a 10 hours to finish!

All in all i still prefer the set price, commissions... where i know what i need to pay, i pay it and wait for the work or stream to get the art itself. Usually more price sound, reasonable(though not always) and i feel better about buying them as a consumer.

" I wouldn't necessarily say 'burn' for this, but....hold on, got a call...."

"Yes, this is the office of TSOL, may I ask who is calling?"

"....oh..."

"TSOL, a Mr. Dormammu on line 2, says he has some 'special' fire for your comment..."

I remember seeing some artist Auction for "Good Medicine" and the ending price was like $300-375 and somebody said that was cheap. I think these are just scams cause your paying all that money to be in situations where you don't get a choice in

As much as I love furry art, I wouldn't spend an arm and a leg on any of those things you mentioned. If I want a commission, I'd want it the old fashion way: look for artists taking commissions, find one to your liking with a reasonable price, PM said artist and explained to him/her the details, pay him/her, and simply wait till it's finished.

This meme is supposed to be two bad ideas, followed by a good idea, hence the humor through irony.  XD

I got into an argument last night with a guy that payed 250 dollars on an auction artwork commission. Forgot the artist name, but evidently he is fairly popular... not saying much with how many popular artists are out there... anyways. He said and I quote "You got to pay allot of money to get really good quality." So I linked him the picture of my feline Sellestia and my other characters and asked him how much he thinks I payed for them. He told me what he thought, and what he would of payed. Cheapest was 80 bucks for my Natasha pic. I lol'd and told him I payed 80 for all 3 total.

So.... why pay 200-300+ dollars on some furry art, when you can still get just as good of quality from someone else for 1/10-2/5 the price?

It's not a scam if people are choosing to be in there.  If it's a bad idea and people arn't satisfied, it'll disappear.
