Annie woke up, stretching in her new bed, which was bigger than the one she had previously had. upon tossing her sheets aside she reached for her clothes; a pair of jeans, sliding the up she fastened the button. she then proceeded to reach for a light green button collar shirt, pulling it over her head to it fell over her chest. The young dog
proceeded to button the collar before looking at herself in the mirror, brushing her hair to rid herself of bedhead.
Once she was finished, she headed downstairs where the smell of pancakes overtook her as she stood beside her mother watching her plop batter on the hot skillet, hardening into a solid mass.
"Annie, sit at the table" Christine instructed as she nodded, getting a seat at the table, beside Stanley who was waiting, tapping his fingers on the table as Christine had reminded him there was no electronics at the Dining room table. he simply turned to Annie, asking how she slept.
"Oh, I slept Great bro" Annie replied as a stack of pancakes was placed before her, reaching for the bottle of syrup as Stanley beat her to it, reminding her she wasn't allowed to use the syrup, tilting the bottle over the stack as to not waste too much. She watched as her fluffy cakes were covered in a thick brown good. Stanley asking if she wanted powdered sugar to which she shook her head. Stanley simply shook the powdered sugar over his own breakfast setting the tin down.
"And use your knife Annie" Franklin reminded, cutting his own pancakes, thanking Christine for the wonderful breakfast as they started eating. Christine putting some sliced berries of her cakes. Annie looked at her parents asking if she could still go to the park to play as Franklin stabbed his pancakes with a fork.
"Of course you can sweetie, just stay safe and be back before dark" He decided, seeing nothing wrong with her going to the park. he caught a glimpse of it, on the way up to the house. it was small with some equipment. a slide, a merry-go-round a swing set and a small playground as it was within walking distance.
"Let's finish breakfast and I'll drop you off there" He offered to his daughter who wanted to walk, at least until Stanley fixed her bike like he promised. Franklin again asked if she was sure she knew where the park was if she remembered the house number if she got lost. Annie nodded, having the number written on an index card in her pocket until she memorized it.
The young girl left the house, waving goodbye as she walked down the dirt path, along the side of the empty road. she attempted to hum, to brighten the mood at the morning, passing by a shady tree startled as something swung down from one of the branches. inches away from her face causing the Dobermann to jump back in shock.
The thing being a squirrel about her age wearing a purple dress with a ribbon around her waist and white pantyhose. She simply giggled at the reaction coming from the dog. "I totally got you".
The strange girl dropped from the tree, landing on her feet, asking if Annie was new; adding she had never seen her before, putting her hips behind her back, swaying as Annie composed herself, nodded.
"Yeah, names Annie, I just moved here with my brother and parents. the farmhouse down the road" she explained as the squirrel nodded, knowing the house she was talking about. the Miller family who used to be her neighbors.
"So, we're neighbors, that is so cool, you are gonna love it her. Oh, I'm Cassie by the way; I saw you heading towards the park. I was heading that way to meet my friends" Cassie explained, looking at Annie asking if she wanted to come with. The Dobermann simply nodded. following Cassie to the park.
"So, what can you tell he about your friends?" Annie asked as Cassie went on about her friends.
"We first there is Trica, she a pig super nice, very artsy, loves drawing and crafts, she's the daughter of the town postman. Next there is Rosie and her sisters June and Lily, they're bunny triplets, real farmer daughter types and lastly there is Shannon, a black bear, and total tomboy; rough type" Cassie went on about her friend circle as they eventually reached the park. Cassie pointing at the kids, playing on the merry go round, a brown rabbit and pig sitting as a black bear swung it around.
Tricia was wearing a yellow dress down to her ankles and a necklace which read her name in small, lettered tiles. Rosie was wearing a red shirt, and overalls and Shannon was wearing a green button up shirt and brown shorts, topped with a ballcap. stopping when she was Cassie walking up with the Dobermann.
"Whoa Cass, who's the new girl?" Shannon asked, continuing to spin the wheel as the two hung on, making a game of who could hold on the longest.
Cassie allowed Annie to introduce herself before mentioning the Dobermann moved into the old Miller Place as the girls nodded. "So, Rosie, where are your sisters?".
The brown rabbit simply hung on, telling the squirrel that they were helping with chores but might met up later as Cassie nodded, eyeing the spinning wheel, patting Annie on the shoulder "watch this".
Annie watched as Cassie jumped on the spinning wheel, grabbing a bar as Tricia called her out, saying she could not jump on after the wheel started spinning to which Rosie chuckled, "you're saying that cause you're about to lose"
"Am Not" Trica replied holding on as Shannon looked at Annie, asking if she wanted to jump on. the Dobermann simply shook her head, not wanting to attempt jumping as it seemed too risky, happy to watch. eventually Tricia slipped off, rolling off the wheel into the grass. the other girls giggling.
Annie walked over to Trica, helping pull her up as the pig brushed herself off, thanking Annie. Rosie got off celebrating her victory, still a bi lightheaded from being spun.
After the Merry Go Round Tricia, Shannon and Cassie decided to play on the jungle gym, Rosie walked to the swing set, sitting on the wooden plank suspended by rope as Annie sat beside her. the swing feeling way different from the plastic and chain swings of the city.
The two girls began swinging, Rosie kicking her legs back and forth as Annie followed suit. The rabbit turned to the dog, asking questions about her so the two got to know each other, swaying back and forth. Rosie acted what kind of stuff she liked.
"Well, I like plushies, synthpop, singing in the shower, though I have a tub, but my biggest hobby is watching movies; my Daddy works in the movies business" Annie revealed as Rosie almost stumbled off the swing. Trica turned to the Dobermann, asking about her father's movie business.
"Well, he makes posters, and box art. you know those pictures on the boxes that tapes come in. he also does album art. he's an amazing artist" Annie praised, thinking highly of her old man. Trica simply clung to the bars.
"Do you think we could see his work" the pig asked hopefully and it noticeable she perked up a bit excited. the girls continued playing as the sounds as a dinging was heard as Shannon jumped from the jungle gym, excited. "Ice Cream!"
Like bees to honey the kids got off the gym as followed the source of the music, a white van with pictures of Ice Cream treats on the side; park outside the park, the side panel opening as the driver was bombarded with kids, waving bills. The group got in the line, waiting for their treats. Shannon excited about their Honey Bombs as Trica was gonna get one of their chocolate Bananas. Cassie, hoping for of the nutbuddy ice cream sandwich.
"I'm gonna get a strawberry fruit pop, what about you Annie" the rabbit asked, counting the money in her hand as Annie tried to glance at the menu, reading the different treats before making her decision.
"What will it be Kiddo" The driver of the truck asked, a friendly smile on face as she had spent so much time thinking she was already next in line, having to make her decision, looking at the ice cream treats.
"Oh... uh...I'll take the Astro-Pop" Annie replied as the vendor reached down pulling out a red, white and blue popsicles, ripping off the paper wrapper as he handed it to the Dobermann. Annie fumbled with her money as he smiled, assuring her that the ice cream was free, since she was new.
After everyone got there treats the truck drove off, the friendly jingle following it as Annie licked her popsicle. it was a basic frozen treat she could never go wrong with. Cassie was nibbling in her peanut butter flavored ice cream sandwich with nuts. Trica was sucking the chocolate flavored banana. Rosie was licking her fruit pop and Shannon enjoyed her honey flavored frozen treats.
The girls enjoyed their ice cream; everyone aside Annie throwing their dirty wrappers into a nearby trash can after enjoying their treats as Rosie licked her strawberry pop. "Lily and June will be jealous".
Annie asked what the group wanted to do next, watching Tricia suck the chocolate off her banana. "Oh, I should head back, My Mom is gonna want me to look after my baby brother. waving goodbye as she left the group, chocolate dripping behind her; telling Annie it was nice meeting her as Shannon looked at Rosie, pulling her aside to whisper to her asking if they should invite Annie to their sleepover tonight.
'I... Don't think that's a good idea, it's very short notice plus we don't really know Annie that well" The Brown rabbit pondered, watching the Dobermann suck the cherry flavoring off her Astro-Pop, leaving just the lime and blueberry before asking when the Ice Cream man started selling Astro-Pops.
